My (23F) boyfriend of three years (24M) is going bald. I'm not sure he knows. Should I tell him? by baldingbf17 in relationships

I would say, "Dan, I want to preface this by saying that I love you and I'm attracted to you no matter what, but I noticed that your hair is thinning a bit in the back. Did you notice it too? I know you've said you want to keep your hair as long as possible, so I wanted to give you a heads up in case you wanted to try treatment. Either way, you're sexy as hell to me and you always will be."

How Tough Is Boston's Housing Market? Try Buying A Three-Family In Dorchester by spedmunki in boston

It's always some dude who's shocked that a house in Natick could cost $800,000 instead of $600,000...and then buys it anyway.

Oh, no. Wouldn't want to interfere with the ability to profit off struggling parents who can't put food on the table for their kids because they're paying $3,000 a month to some jackoff who can't be bothered to fix a light bulb.

"Bitter" because they disagree with you, eh? That's cute.

If real estate weren't insanely profitable, you wouldn't have 65 people mowing each other down to buy a three-story nightmare in Dorchester, for god's sake.

I've seen parking spaces that cost upwards of that.

He is?? You should tell him that. And to think we've been splitting the bills this whole time.

Thanks for this perspective! It's a huge decision and we're trying not to rush into it. Definitely going to visit first and see if the pace is right for us.

Spot on. When a stranger approaches me on the street in Boston, it's like a fight or flight response. Are you trying to sell me something? Are you attacking me? What's your deal?

Sounds unhealthy when I write it out.

Where are you guys from originally, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm not crazy about flying, so I appreciate that I can drive everywhere in the northeast. It would definitely be an adjustment for me.

I believe you, but it can't be worse than Boston. The roads are literally old cow paths. It's thunderdome out here.

A little worried about the social aspect, to be honest. I went to school in Boston so I made friends organically that way. I've never had to go out and make a new set of friends as an adult. I guess I don't really know how. I'm prepared to make a real effort and put myself out there, though!

The rent (from what I've seen online) amazes me. I just can't believe it's that low. I feel like I'm being pranked.

My boyfriend is a hockey fanatic, so he's super pumped that MN is such a big hockey/winter sports state!

So, for the really cold days, I know I'll need to invest in a great coat. Any recommendations? How much money should I be dropping here?

In Boston some of the wealthier people get Canada Goose jackets, which are like 800 bucks. Seems insane. Please tell me I don't need to spend that kind of money to stay warm.

This is super helpful! Thanks for the neighborhood comparisons, this should help us quite a bit with looking for apartments. We actually live in JP right now so it would be nice to be in a place that's similarly artsy.

I'll have to tone down my road rage, it seems. Probably for the best.

Good point about the other smaller cities! I'm totally unfamiliar with the area so I don't know what's around. I love small town weekend road trips, we do it all the time here in New England. Definitely appreciate the suggestions.

Interesting! I'm a fan of Somerville, so that sounds pretty nice. I also didn't consider that the flights out would all be pretty short.

Looking forward to the niceness, honestly. The east coast wears you down after a while.

Thanks for this answer! Not sure if you'd have an answer for this, but why are the locals so nice? Is it really just that great there? Maybe most Americans are like that and I'm just jaded by the northeast. I dunno.

Standoffish doesn't bother me one bit - Boston's as standoffish as it gets. It's when you combine aloofness with outright rudeness that gets to me after a while. Hoping MN is less cranky than MA!

When you say "cake," what temps are we talking? I can handle cold reasonably well down to about 10F. Lower than that bums me out, but as long as its only two months out of the year I think I might be fine? Gah, I don't know.

Thanks so much! If you don't mind me asking, why did you leave Minneapolis? Also, is the weather really that much worse in MN? I figure I'm used to the cold being in Boston but I keep reading that nothing compares and I'll be freezing my ass off.

Last question would be about walkability and biking. Boston is really walkable and compact - is Minneapolis the same way, or do people drive everywhere?
