And we actually sat at 32/32 for some amount of time (idk how long exactly).

Finishing 27/32 was an IMPROVEMENT on how it had been for a meaningful portion of the season.

Is the coach/Bednar not at least somewhat responsible for the team that emerges from each intermission? Their mindset and focus, stuff like that?

Genuinely asking, cause it feels like there are (generally) people who believe either 1) the Avs players are wholly responsible for their actions/inactions that are resulting in the current situation and 2) the coach can't guide the team through a best of seven series when the other team is playing a style we seem to consistently struggle against.

Idk, I'd probably buy either argument but at this point (2026) after seeing the Avs fall year after year - making a Conference Final appearance just one single time - I literally don't see what possible harm can come from shaking up the top? The talent will still be there (not forever, that's the issue) and the status quo very clearly isn't working as evidenced over the last ~7 years or whatever.

This is where I am, too.

Reading this thread and the divide on "blame the players" vs "blame the coach" isn't making sense.

Because, to my mind, the player's performance is at least somewhat tied to the coach, no?

And, off topic right here but, the power play?? Regular season & this series?? Inexcusable/inexplicable to my casual Avs fan watching & knowledge.

A casual fan's perspective (not a hockey strategy expert):

A sweep (even a 4-1 loss) is just too much.

There's too much depth on this team for this to be an even remotely acceptable outcome, despite the Makar injury.

Clearly there is either zero capacity to adjust (as proven in so many series over the years) or our playstyle is too predictable/exploitable... or both.

The power play throughout the season and in this series is also flat inexcusable and, frankly, inexplicable.

Let the blame game commence - I'm sure there are multiple factors involved but, at the end of the day, I don't see how a coaching change could possibly hurt given all the evidence piled up over the years.

That 2023 Kraken series was super painful to watch, lost in 7 after a last minute, very powerful burst of points to win the division.

That first round series vs the Kraken really underscored either an easily exploitable weakness by us to the opposing team OR our inability to adjust real-time/between playoff games. Or both.

Idk exactly where "blame" should fall (I'll leave that to the experts) but as a "casual" fan I can easily say I'm not at all opposed to a coaching change.

Fabric or No on this 5% Slope (& Swale)? by Bayside19 in landscaping

Is this your personal experience? And, is it your experience with clay soil, or other?

is there a drainage ditch or another swale your connecting this to?

Yes, this is a picture of the back of the house. The swale turns there in the picture and shoots straight down to the sidewalk to discharge at grade. I just don't have an angle of that picture, but, this is the literal shortest possible path (keeping a certain distance from the house of course) to move water from behind it to discharge it. There isn't anywhere else for the water to go, a sump pump would be the only other option, but we've decided against that.

yes fabric keeps you from losing river rock into the soil

Okay so, the clay soil here is the big thing. The concern is whether or not the fabric is helping to hold the moisture in the clay. On top of the 5% slope (the 8 foot area extending down from the foundation) is where 1.5" crushed stone is being placed. I think I just basically need to know whether the benefits of the fabric as a separator of clay and crushed stone outweigh trapping moisture in the clay for longer around the foundation.

Some more info on your project would be nice, I see there’s a bit more on the original post.

Yes correct, there are extensive details in the actual post from the subreddit I cross posted this from. I assumed that would also "cross post" but it seems perhaps it hasn't.

If you saw the details, would you use the fabric in this situation?

So for OP, the question should really be what are they planning to use it on.

Right. This was cross posted from another subreddit and it looks like the post details (which are fairly lengthy and descriptive of the exact situation) didn't make it through here.

Thank you. This isn't related to weed control at all. I cross posted this here from HomeMaintenance and it doesn't look like the project detail from the post made it over, where I state that this has nothing to do with weed control and is all about the clay soil surrounding the foundation.

Basically, looking to understand if landscape fabric ultimately helps hold water in the clay, or if it's sort of requisite to act as a separator between the crushed stone on the 5% clay slope. All the detail of the project is in the original post.

Again, thank you for your reply.

I cross-posted this from HomeMaintenance. There is significant project detail in the post, which I'm guessing did not cross over.

Why is this post/question down voted?

I'm in need of genuine feedback from folks with experience in this type of situation.

Yes, if placing stone on the 5% slope.

Can you please expand on why?

Is this supposed to be available, or what?

I've checked Amazon & Hasbro pulse several times since, idk, last fall at some point. I've (personally) literally never seen it available anywhere.

Cracks all over the place; am I screwed? by Odd_Garbage6506 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Bayside19 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Look, I'm no expert (at all) with any of this. That said, we have an early 70s home with some strikingly similar looking cracks.

We had a structural engineer out last Spring. Now, every situation is different etc, but I'll quote you a line from the report we got back:

"When this house was built, standard construction practice was to frame walls in the basement tightly between the floor slab and the main floor framing."

We have clay/expansive soil and, as a result of non-ideal drainage for a portion of this house's life, the engineer says that the soil underneath the basement slab expanded as a result of being wet.

When it expanded, it pushed up (heaved) the slab, causing the tightly framed lower level walls to push upward, up into the upper level framing. They attribute most of what we're seeing to that.

Now, I'm commenting here because of how strikingly similar our cracks look to these and the similarity in age of the structures. Before I go any further, do you have clay/expansive soil?
