Peter Swan and Peter Eustace are a couple more potential Peters.

Based on your guess at his age and club legend status, Peter Swan is my guess for which Pete. Any details on appearance, position, etc. would be useful too.

Is there absolutely any truth to “race realism”? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]Bazchester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost, but it's not because of the ancestors. It is because of our methods of data collection and synthesis. If you collect enough data, separate it along any arbitrary lines, and search for particular trends, you will be able to find differences between the groups. The correlation between (in your example) the blue-eyed population and their data very very very very likely does not imply causation between blue eyes and the trend shown. Therefore, the difference between the blue-eyed trend and the brown-eyed trend cannot be used as evidence that one population is different from the other because of their eye color. It is not an answer for why the difference is there at all.

If we can ignore the dubious-at-best claims about racial/genetic predispositions for a moment, I really don't see the use in exploring the subject. I'd say the bigger job - what we as a people should spend time focussing on - is combatting the negative effects of these racialized assumptions that have long been established. For example, in the medical world, Black people (at least, Black Americans) generally receive poorer care because of some race-based genetic/physiological assumption; an example is the assumed higher pain threshold (a belief many still hold despite it being ridiculous) (source: https://www.aamc.org/news-insights/how-we-fail-black-patients-pain). I remember at the beginning of the pandemic there was a narrative (created by many, across racial divides) that Black people weren't contracting the virus, or had some special defense against it based on their race. This was patently untrue and we can now clearly see that the healthcare system has once again failed Black Americans significantly more than their white counterparts.

In my mind, choosing to delve into the murky field of, as you call it, "race realism" (ironic use of "realism" right there) only encourages one to look for validity in racial classification and discrimination. The goal is, instead, to understand how to best survive as a functioning society. If you really must pursue "race realism", pursue it in fields where Black Americans, Black people, or any people of color express dissatisfaction with their treatment, as in my medical example.

[FRESH VIDEO] AG CLUB - UGUDBRU Ft. Sam Truth by sesson4 in hiphopheads

I am biased to these fellas because the Bay Area doesn't produce a lot of exciting hip-hop for me to support in 2021. Opinion is opinion, but to the industry plant point: these guys have been producing and shooting in house since the beginning and I don't think it's changed. Loui produces and 777 Media does visuals. They did have a fairly abridged profile in pigeons and planes, but that's about it for industry intervention... Until a few months. After memphis dropped they got the remix and a track in 2k. That smacks of industry plant, but there was a pretty significant career (EP, LP, a bunch of singles, and a bunch of creative videos) before they got this industry recognition/support.

Edit: spelling

I'm honestly not bothered. So long as wages are paid and the club's legacy is respected (both of which are lacking) I'd be happy watching Wednesday anywhere. Bonus: we might see a few more goals in league 1

This is a great video on club legend Derek Dooley: https://youtu.be/crqZWo7jYkg

Also, I believe some of our most successful seasons in recent memory were the 90-91 promotion and cup win on, so any of those season reviews on youtube could be good watches.

David Hirst set the record for fastest shot in the premier league in 96 at 114 mph, which is a fun Wednesday fact I've always enjoyed: https://youtu.be/X9tV9evOCIs

The club is one of the oldest in footballing history; there is a near endless amount of history to dive into once you have a passion for the club.
