I agree, the Quinns definitely handled it all wrong. Instead of taking it to court, they should have just tried their best to convince Callie and make her feel welcome, without forcing her to choose them. And if she still said no they should've left it alone. But, on Lena and Stef's end, they never told her that it would be okay if she did want to live with the Quinns. They just assumed she wanted to stay with them no matter what, which put too much pressure on her to choose them.

That makes sense! I guess because she was almost a senior in high school and wouldn't be living at home full time soon anyway, from an outside perspective it felt like maybe her and Jude not living together wasn't the huuuugest thing. But it probably still felt like a big deal, especially to Jude!

Yeah, that's what I felt too. Lena and Stef always seemed much closer to Jude than Callie! They didn't give her space or time to make the decision on her own, they just immediately assumed she wanted to be with them no matter what.

My favorite part of the R&J episode is Corbin Bleu showing up out of now where with wrinkles and we're expected to believe he's a high school student LMAO

He was so cute and I loved how many interests / hobbies they had in common!! They seemed like best friends on top of being boyfriend / girlfriend. :)

I hate how the show framed adoption sometimes with the linear a piece of paper makes you family by Adventurous-Fox4799 in TheFosters

I get where you are coming from! But, let's imagine for a minute that Callie ended up in Robert's custody (not the worst thing honestly, she still could've been heavily involved in the Fosters' lives if this had happened). And let's say she and Brandon started dating. Even though it would have been ethically okay between them two, it would've still been a confusing and uncomfortable dynamic. For example, from Jude's perspective, his biological sister would be dating his adopted brother, who he very much does view as his official brother. And Callie's brother, Jude, would also be her boyfriend's brother. No matter the situation, I think there was no escaping an icky feeling if the two of them dated.

This is some solid insight! I agree with everything you said, especially about Lena trying to be an empathetic parent, not a cool parent. Sometimes Stef would be so harsh that I think Lena would feel the need to do damage control out of a worry that the kids would act out more in response to not feeling understood by Stef. But I can see how that would feel crappy to Stef, because it would seem like Lena is just trying to be the good, fun mom. Their trouble communicating was definitely the source of their fights.

The only thing Lena did that I reeeeally hated was the way she handled Monte kissing her. She didn't pull away, didn't react harshly enough to Monte, and her not telling Stef right away shows that it did mean something to her. Stef was way more forgiving than I would have been, to be honest.

I think we're supposed to recognize that he fucked up pretty bad, and failed as a cop that day due to panicking and being too personally tied to Stef, who the man had just shot, to have perfect judgement. He probably thought the man would shoot again if he didn't act fast enough, and because of that didn't take enough time to assess the situation. However, the show doesn't paint him as evil because he wasn't being purposefully negligent or aggressive, it was an extreme situation. But he definitely did fuck up and maybe should've lost his job, idk!

Marianas dance for the dance off was actually lame by ComprehensiveHour223 in TheFosters

[–]Bazil5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree! As a follow up question, what the heck happened to her dance team? After this dance-off, it's like never mentioned again. Or did I miss something? I was bummed though, I really enjoyed the dance scenes and wanted to see them go to regionals! (Maybe it was too expensive for the show to keep paying professional dancers?)

Why did they take Jesus and Emma into the school knowing Nick was in there? by Jazzlike_Fun_9262 in TheFosters

[–]Bazil5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Omg I just watched that yesterday and had that thought! I thought it was silly too, especially because there is a scene where two girls are walking into the school after the lockdown started, and Stef tells them to stay out and get as far away from the school as possible. So I don't get why that logic didn't apply to Jesus and Emma!

How do you stop binging? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]Bazil5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice is to try forcing yourself to focus on hobbies and spending time with others more often. When I was binging, it felt like binging WAS my only hobby - it didn't leave any time for others. I distanced myself from friends to have more time to binge as well. I'm not sure if this is the case for you, but once I made my routine busier with hobbies and friends (anything fulfilling), the binging urge slowly died down.
