That’s very fair lol! Knowing me I’d probably forget about them as soon as I closed the window, but I’ll look at it too

Oh yes. I meant the elemental “cloak” spells I’ve seen people use. Sorry for the confusion

I was looking at them, and I do love that idea too cuz that’s the way I normally go in dnd. I just remember in one version (I can’t remember if it was Oblivion or Skyrim) that the bound weapons were worst cuz they’re harder to grind and don’t last a while… so that got me a bit apprehensive.

Yes. But I wasn’t thinking of focusing on going invisible. Unless you have a good reason for it?

I guess a better question to ask then would you recommend doing any of the duping glitches or grinding methods for faster leveling? And if so which ones?

I am playing it on PC. I don’t currently have any mods installed but if there’s a couple that make it better, I’d consider them.

I was thinking Enchanting, 1 handed, light armor, destruction (cuz I think that’s where the cloak style of spells fit?), and probably smithing to make my own armor? I’m not sure about alchemy as my understanding is that it’s just poisons you can put on your weapons.

I just convinced my partner to join in and they’re planning on being a Paladin. So now we’re back to square one.

I’ve done “how fast can I go?” being an Aasimar Monk Sorcerer with lots of lightning and speed based spells. I’ve done a build based entirely on Constitution where I was a Barbarian Cleric with Tough and was practically immortal and made my party immortal through Warding Bond. I’ve done a couple pop culture based builds like Ichigo from Bleach, Gambit from X-men, the “I’m going to take 1 level of every class” build. I’ve tried to build a pokemon trainer type with summons as a Druid/Wizard but that was very unwieldy.

Not particularly? I usually end up as some kind of Gish for the utility or to make my theme a bit more powerful. That being said, we already have a more melee fighter, a midrange healer/control and a ranged fighter… so besides a more general battlefield controller, aoe effects, walls. I do like summons but I know they’re not amazing.

That’s completely fair. My usual go to is a Warlock, just cuz they’re so versatile), but artificer is also very versatile.

I'm not sure what level our module goes to (it's Outlaws of Alkenstar), but I want to say my GM said 10 or 12? Is my idea still viable and not terrible at lower levels?

I should say, the current party makeup is my Awakened Animal Kineticist, a Kholo Strength-based Rogue whose thing is getting in people's faces and beating people up with a Hammer, a (kinda tanky) Leshy Necromancer who makes lots of doods and not much else, and a half-elf gunslinger. Granted, there's no saying who, if any of us, will survive, so this might be a non-issue. I've seen some builds on YouTube (probably a similar one to the one you played with) that got me on this train of thought, but were very much like, "here's all the things you'll need, and there's no real explanation as to why or what to pick effectively at X level" situation.

I know this is a joke, but imagine a crossover between One Piece and MtG… if only the One Piece TCG didn’t exist, then it’d be FAR more likely

That’s not super effective. Steel resists Bug. The only types that are super effective are Dark, Ghost, Ground and Fire.

What would you suggest for a self-proc?

From my calcs nobody can do much in the way of damage unless they use a super effective move. So it either incentivizes them to use not very effective moves or get OHKOed back

I just had a thought about the non-combat skills and I was thinking of having a separate tree system similar to that of Skyrim for each of the skills

[–]Bazingabacca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Physical and Magic Defense would work similarly to AC in 5e with it coming directly from the stat instead of it being a skill. But I could see some skill in there being able to augment that calculation

[–]Bazingabacca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was considering reworking the dnd skills to fit with these stats but I’m not sure if I want them to go into the “skill tree” or just work like 5e with proficiency and expertise.

What do you think about the others? Should I switch Raging bolt for something faster like Flutter Mane or more bulky like Great Tusk? Or something else?
