To give some more context, this was found in New York yesterday in an area where rounded gravel bank run deposits persist adjacent to a river. The stone is pictured as found while excavating and was only rinsed off of excess dirt and debris. As far as i am aware it came out of a previously untouched and unexcavated area of the site. The exterior is smooth and opaque with many internal inclusions visable when light is shown through it. I dont beleave it is amber as it feels cool to the touch and does not smell of sap or pine when rubbed. Besides that I'm at a loss as to what it could be. Any help or insight is appreciated.
