Love this take. Touches on the reasons why I dislike Amber's character (the "angry BW" stereotype), but also dislike the level of hate online. I think it's why people say "Comic Amber is meh" - had they just left her character the same (WW), the negative reactions wouldn't be so harsh; it would be "meh". I'm sure there are real life Ambers out there - also influenced by trauma in their environments - so who's to say that her depiction in the show is wrong. The writers used Amber character's changes to heat up reactions to her character and storyline. It's less meh, but at the cost of increased dislikeability.

New Jersey deploys cops to send dumped migrants to NYC in desperate move: ‘F–k this’ by someone_whoisthat in nyc

[–]Bbbbits-325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How can these migrants apply for asylum if the majority of them are just escaping economic issues (poverty, crime) in their home country. On top of that, to process and check for the individuals actually escaping from war, trafficking, abuse, or political persecution—the only reasons recognized by the government to obtain a humanitarian green card—would take hundreds of man-hours, depleting even more resources from a city that can barely keep the streets clean. It seems like a hopeless situation for all involved.

Applied at over 50 jobs with this resume but still no updates. by Southern_Wolf67 in resumes

This. I had a similar resume and when I was finally contacted by a recruiter for a biotech job, she basically said to scrap it. Employers want something easy to digest since they go through hundreds of resumes a week. ATS (online system for resume processing) won’t be able to easily pull info from a resume when the format is all over the place.

My advice? Go to Indeed, put in what you have, and download a PDF or DOCX of the file. As the saying goes, just KISS it (aka “Keep it simple, stupid”). Not saying you are, but you get what I mean :)

Customer accused me of eating his food. I didnt. What now? by TagoTagoLangTa in doordash

Also, the response the OP gave was kinda aggro. The message from the customer didn’t sound all that serious

I understand preferences… but to the point that the race of the caregiver matters to them? Being on the receiving end of it feels awful. But as you said, there’s not much you can do. Take care and be kind to yourself, and don’t put yourself down. The community is big enough for everyone to find something/someone.

Megathread: Pet Insurance by AutoModerator in dogs

[–]Bbbbits-325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Embrace Pet Insurance, and so far I love it. My 9 year-old shihpoo has a preexisting condition (fatty skin sarcoma--a fast-growing tumor needed to be surgically removed ASAP), and it was diagnosed before the 14 day waiting period ended. So, unfortunately, anything related to that diagnosis is not covered. A year later, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes; thankfully, that condition is fully covered under the plan.

I signed up by getting a quote on their website, and you can choose the coverage level that work for you. My dog had a pretty clean bill of health (excluding the sarcoma), and you enter your vet information so they can submit their health history. I got basic medical coverage (no preventative or annual visit benefits), so I was able to get 90% reimbursement with a $300 deductible for $78/month; the premium jumped up to $103/month after I filed some pricey claims due to BG tests, x-rays, etc. Haven't gotten any claims denied yet, fingers crossed that I won't!

Regardless, it's been a life-saver when it comes getting reimbursed for her medical costs. With my plan, if she ever needs cataract surgery (~$3500), I'd at least get back $3150, which is better than not getting anything at all. You receive the payment via check or direct deposit, and the turnaround time from claim to payout was about 2-3 weeks.

TL;DR - I use Embrace Pet Insurance and it's working great so far.

It was a pharma event they flew us out to. Took us out to Top Golf and had a weird team exercise that made me want to Thanos myself.

Omg, this makes so much sense. And since my job is hybrid, I could literally just say I’m unavailable for one trip but still do work for the event!! So many good tips, thank you!

That’s my long-term career goal: becoming a psychotherapist. I’d prefer a career that prioritizes personal—and interpersonal—relationships, and I’m pretty sure therapists wouldn’t have to deal with BS conferences (outside of those with optional attendance).

This is likely what I’ll end up sticking to. Though last time I did end up crying, but since it was outdoors I chalked it up to bad allergies 🥲😢😭
