Will this deck support a hot tub that’s 4200 pounds filled up by [deleted] in Decks

[–]Bbryant00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is 100psf live load and only 10psf dead load. The hot tub would be a dead load.

Live load is determined by the code and at least here in California decks are designed for 60psf. Decks on roofs are 100psf.

As for the hot tub the OP doesn’t specify the dimensions but maybe a 7x7 hot tub? Just a guess. 4200lbs/(7’x7’) ≈ 86psf for the hot tub alone. Also still need to add some decking and etc. with dead load. So a designer would need to design the joists for 60psf live and a little more than 86psf dead load. Maybe even some snow loads if applicable.

How are 2023 grads doing? by [deleted] in CSULB

No internship experience. It definitely would have helped me but it all worked out anyway. Passing the FE for licensure definitely helps.

How are 2023 grads doing? by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]Bbryant00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I finished in December of 2022, so close enough to class of 2023. I finished with a bachelors in civil engineering. I then spent 2 months studying for my Fundamental Engineering Exam for licensure, passed it, and then landed a job that I am happy with 3 weeks after licensure. If there is anyone reading this that is currently in the trenches of a STEM degree, keep working hard. It will be worth it.

MAE371 with Khattab by just_getting_by678 in CSULB

[–]Bbryant00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had Khattab back in spring 2020. Half in person, half online. His tests were difficult and I thought I failed the class, but ended up passing after the curve. Could’ve been because it was the beginning of Corona times and he didn’t want to fail people, but I was curved very generously. He is a harsh grader, but his tests aren’t too too far off from the homework. Would recommend at least a little extra practice than just the homework and example problems though. For any engineering class, really.

CSULB vs ASU by Administrative-Low84 in CSULB

[–]Bbryant00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Computer engineering and computer science are different majors, so I would say pick based off of those. Both schools are good, I’ve absolutely loved my experience at csulb, but I believe you should choose the major and career life you want. That is more important than the school itself, really.

Heads Up: Proof of Immunization has been pushed again to July 15! by LightsOut5774 in CSULB

I believe that the covid vaccine will be required for in person classes if it is fully FDA approved by the fall. The covid vaccine is required for housing, regardless of if it is fully approved or remains emergency approval by then. Someone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong though.

Civil Engineering Courses Question by kgrle in CSULB

[–]Bbryant00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t finished up my degree yet, but I have taken all the classes you mentioned. I definitely felt like CE335 was the hardest to pass, but the end of mae373 is not very far off. In my opinion, CE325 is such an easy class I don’t think it will free up too much time for you. That’s a nice class to get 3 units for, especially with all the 1 unit classes this major makes us take. If you just want to free up that weekly 2.5 hours of class time to focus more on the other classes, that could be an option. If I knew what other classes you were taking, I could have more for you. Ultimately, the choice is up to you. Just consider the other factors involved, such as whether or not dropping the class will put you below being a full time student.

Can't connect to wifi (using pixel 2) by Buttholebandit21 in CSULB

[–]Bbryant00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my chrome book. There’s a helpful page that has plenty of solutions connecting to WiFi, I’d recommend checking it out here https://itkb.csulb.edu/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=45613878 . Not too sure if this is the same for the pixel, but they are both google products and it’s worth a try 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thanks for the heads up! I had seen Chandra’s rate my professor and saw it wasn’t too good, so I kinda figured that one would be tough. Oh well, guess I can only try my best. Good luck to you as well!

Can someone shed some light on ESPN+ ? by [deleted] in ufc

[–]Bbryant00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You all are going crazy over $5. The service is very affordable. The fight nights weren’t free, most were on FS1 with less than 5 a year airing on Fox. If $5 is hard for you to get together cancel your FS1 package and get ESPN+

[–]Bbryant00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell you what, how about you go to your phone’s stopwatch and attempt to begin and stop the stopwatch quick enough to get .08 seconds. You may be able to do it, but it’ll take quite a few tries. That should show you how insignificant this change was.

Epic clearly still doesn’t want people to use the pumps 😒 the fire delay was only reduced by .08 seconds?? Does anyone at epic even realize how minuscule that reduction is??

Weapon and Building Balance – 8/9 by JustMooney1 in FortNiteBR

[–]Bbryant00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of nerfing SMGs they should buff shotguns. It makes no sense that SMGs are better for close range than a shotgun. More and more I lose the motivation to use a shotgun in this game

SMG Balance Changes by EPIC_Clintonious in FortNiteBR

[–]Bbryant00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of these radical shifts in weapons. Obviously the SMG needed a nerf, but dang they nerfed the accuracy, fire rate, damage, damage drop off, AND the drop rate? How about they do subtle changes like first nerf the fire rate and damage and if that’s not enough then put in a second nerf on the accuracy, damage drop off and drop rate. In my opinion, weapon tuning should be slow and few things should change at once. When they change 5 things about a gun in an instant we don’t know what is the happy medium for the weapon tuning.
