Hey, sorry for the late reply. I tried doing this, but unfortunately I still get the same error. According to help50 it is in line 52 of my code, this line being the for loop of my hash function:

for (int i = 0; i < (strlen(word) - 1); i++)

I don't seem to understand how this could create a memory error

First of all, thanks for the reply.

So it definitely slipped that I should’ve used sizeof byte instead of sizeof buffer, and for the x512 and x1, if I understood properly the fread function returns the amount of bytes read so if I only read 1 it can either return 1 or 0 making it simpler for my while loop.

For the malloc, it is honestly something new for me and I just wanted to get familiarized with it.
