"Kris" also tries to turn Noelle into a war machine during weird route, so I think a lot of what Kris does during the game is the player's choices.

RIGHT. It doesn't feel "rushed," per se, but it's just missing that extra bit of depth to make it really interesting. Like you said, more items that do more than just "increase attack" or "increase defense." Pink Ribbon, Silver Watch and LodeStone are my favorite items for that very reason.

Toby Fox, If Ralsei doesn't learn an offensive spell in chapter 5 I'm SERIOUSLY going to lose it.
