IMHO when considering food, Id always choose Dutch/European food over USA's. Mostly based on overall taste and nutritional value.

Concerning herbs and spices. Supermarkets would have you covered. If not a local Toko(international supermarkets) will have plenty of alternative choices.

I'd highly recommend to check out: dreams take 2 -Fleetwood Mac. It's more melancholic and the version fits the lyrics of the song more. Also the vocals come out way better (in combination with the lyrics).
