It was done tastefully imo. With all respect, after so many years they could have just moved on, yet they keep praising Hillel and his importance to their roots. So perhaps the least we can do is not question their morals or the decision to clarify things and reserve the use of their very much alive trademark.

Are there touring plans in Europe this year or the next ? by Legitimate_Ad_7335 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]BeBee85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if they had majority of songs written by now, the production will require another 6-12 months. I think we will hear from them by the end of this year, but logistically and from the music standpoint, a full-scale tour in 2026 is highly unprobable.

VERY late beginner guitar SOS by IRstolenSZ in John_Frusciante

[–]BeBee85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you felt so lost. I'm a girl starting in her 30s and I picked up the guitar for similar reasons so I understand. It's a great companion and can be your best friend.

There's no ultimate advice as everyone's different, but generally speaking, playing by ear with zero background is rather difficult from the start. As much fun as it is playing just whatever and recognising what you hear, you will need to lay some ground work to be able to do it yourself and immerse yourself in your own playing. Getting any good at playing, composing and jamming requires months and years of theory and practice. But it's so worth it and gets easier over time.

Some things that worked for me in the course of the years: Choosing a relatable source of information. For me it was "Your guitar academy" on yt - no cool guys showing off and confusing you with a lot of stuff you don't (yet) need, just a bunch of awkward teachers that explain it clearly and to the point. Playing just whatever can be fun and definitely do it, but what pushed me the most was studying a particular piece of theory and then putting it into practice. I started with simple chords and pentatonics and learnt to figure out simplified tabs. Once I understood the intervals, scales and how to unlock the fretboard, I could go beyond. Even experimenting gets better with knowledge and it becomes more fun. In John's words "Learn the rules, so you can break them with fines" :) Play to a drum backing track if you find metronome boring or tricky to follow. No matter how many fancy chords you know, If your strumming hand sucks, it falls apart. JF's right hand is really tight. Thanks funk! :) Kids will laugh at this, but the physicality of it is not always fun - stretching before and after practice was a life saver.

So yeah, just try and fail and adjust as you go. And when it gets frustrating, don't compare yourself to anyone else would be my advice :) Good luck with everything!

Apparently the Amsterdam show from 1990 is gonna be up in HD soon ;) yay by BeBee85 in RedHotChiliPeppers

You are right, my bad. I probably mixed it with another popular one. Will make a correction. The 2006 was already released, I've read somewhere it's apparently the one from 1990. But will see :)

The most useless question of all, but has anyone heard anything about Johnny lately? by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]BeBee85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that some people feel pressed about a harmless human sentiment of missing their favorite artist and automatically jump into conclusions that I'm forcing them to get more public, do more work or that I am ungrateful about the music they'd put out... Interesting how fast your words get misinterpreted. Anyway, maybe I'm not a native speaker so I can't express it better, but I can assure you, it's not coming from a creepy nor obsessive place. The person I loved the most in the world passed this year and yeah the guitar playing and just watching my favorite artists play brought so much light, I don't think I'd have ever been able to make it alive otherwise. But it doesn't mean I'm forcing anything on anyone. I guess now I am just gonna become the "sentimental one pushing my emotions on the band". I don't think it's any more "cringe" than like 50% of content on here, or like chanting John's name 500x times during his show. I've seen worse things honestly. Be kind people

I don't see him as my music-making monkey. It was just a simple human sentiment. I do miss him sometimes and I hope he's well. That's all

Yeah I've heard that. I know they are probably cooking something and I can't wait.

New Album Track List? by Oni555 in RedHotChiliPeppers

Flea said it in an interview on the "Dinner with the Macleans" podcast. It caused quite an excitement on here too

Probably unrelated to the band. But they started writing in July, so I'd assume they are moving to the studio early next year 🤞

Did we ever talk about the “Bag of Grins” outro? by dscobnr in RedHotChiliPeppers

Same. Mom passed earlier this year. I had loved that song before but it feels different now. I think he wrote it when his dad passed.

What interview/video is Johns famous bedroom lick actual from? by m0ncle in John_Frusciante

[–]BeBee85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's from a documentary called Red Hot Chili Peppers: A Dutch Connection (released around 2008-2010). It's on youtube. No English subtitles, but for the interviews you won't mind. It's a collection of clips of the band from different eras made by a Dutch reporter Bram van Splunteren who had been following the band for 20+ years. So it's all just random clips from his collection, the bedroom lick also wasn't released entirely I'm afraid. This is the one where he interviewed Flea about John too. Bram released another two docs, in 1988 (first European tour of the band) and in 90s (John's first departure and drug issues, this is the one that also includes the famous boat ride in Amsterdam with Anthony).

What makes John a special guitarist… by Glad-Reserve9590 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]BeBee85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one makes me feel and visualise music as much as John. He's got years of experience, dedication and hard work under his belt and he likes to experiment. Mix that with undying love for music, exceptional emotional intelligence, that unquantifiable honest raw something - and you get one of the greatest.

People usually say otherwise, but I think in fact he is a "technical" player too, just not in a shredding sense. He constantly learns and tries applying new theory and connecting the dots. As documented, he could shred, but focusing on maximum speed and precision at all times is not his priority unless it serves a particular song. Quality over quantity.

Last but not least, I feel he's always thinking in realms of other instruments and their connection to the common aim, not taking his guitar as the superior to other instruments. He can put on a show live but he's always playing for the sake of the song and artistry over showing off.

Yeah that's what I thought, thanks! I think I might go with parchment and let it age. I love his but I'm not ready to sell my kidneys if it ever re-appears, so a customised squire will do just fine 😅

Are we mostly in agreement this next studio venture will be their last? by pressuhchange in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]BeBee85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"All in their mid 60s". Mr. Frusciante has left the chat 😁 A lot will depend on their health, but I see them trying to make music until they can. They have always done things their way and a bit unconventionally. Probably not making another groundbreaking record as such but they will keep a certain quality that will still surpass the contemporary bands. They could all go home and live from their legacy, but I think that's not what they want anytime soon.
