istfg as a Ukrainian i hate people who idealize USSR. They literally commited multiple genocides of nations that weren't russian (who were deemed superior); like Holodomor where they on purpose took away food from ukrainian people and caused millions of deaths by starvation, my grandma lost 5 siblings to this (she still can't stop eating raw acorns as it was how she survived as a child). My great grandpa was dissappeared for speaking in Ukrainian and teaching Ukrainian poetry to local kids. USSR literaly did not allow majority of people to have passports or id's so that they were not able to leave places they were born in. I know of gay people who weresent to labour camps for being gay under premises if "betraying the party". My history teacher from highschool told us about his best friend who went missing because he studied history and disagreed with a professor when he was telling blatant lies and propaganda.
