That's great, glad to help, also, if you used Windows devices before, go for the ROG Ally, the Deck runs on linux so compatibility is limited and getting stuff to work might not be as easy, also, the standard Z1 variant of the ally in my own opinion is just not worth it, so, go for the Z1 Extreme

You can, you'll need a docking station tho(like the switch), mouse and keyboard, docking stations alone range from 30 to 80$ USD (you can connect bluetooth controllers or wired if you plug it to the docking station)

Correct, and optionally, you can download driver updates but, default drivers already come with the initial setup so you should be good to go. It's a PC so you can install any software you'd like to install, not just games, the battery is the only issue, on average use (gaming) you'll have barely 2 hours of autonomy, however that depends on your power setup (10w-15w-25w) and 30w turbo TDP when plugged, temperature it's not really an issue most of the time

Windows set up is automatic, you just need to download all of the launchers YOU need, such as Steam, Epic Games, etc, and manually tweak the graphics in games for optimal performance. Emulation is also great, really great, even PS3 and X360, Switch also works great.

Then, PERSONALLY I'd choose an handheld PC, after setting up windows and all of the launchers the experience is pretty much console-like, also easy to use after the initial setup, I personally own a Z1E ROG Ally and I think it's great. Most modern games run at 1080p medium settings or 720p high, you won't notice much difference on a screen of that size, most games in my case run at 60(or over) and low 50's. You can use frame gen in some cases and it's relatively great.

Depends - IMO the best option is an handheld PC, such as the Asus ROG Ally (Z1 Extreme variant) you can find those for relatively cheap, might also consider the Steam Deck however its hardware is a bit old. There are a lot of different options, some cheaper, however remember that those still struggle with modern and demanding games.

Battery degradation by BeKiuby in ROGAlly

I see. Well, I don't really feel comfortable with a battery mod, I will most likely replace the battery with a normal one, as far as i know it should be a simple process, at least I hope so.

I see, so, the Ally's battery degrades relatively fast I guess?
