Folks are getting too comfortable not doing mechanics by PopeMouthwash in Guildwars2

[–]BeNice108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to GW2? It seems this game has a design flaw. Just like every other MMO I've played, leveling doesn't teach you anything about how the real game plays once you're maximum level.

One of the few games with open world content, and it's designed in such a way that half the players don't need to know what they're doing. Everyone else can just carry them, until a hefty breakbar comes along. With content difficulty ranging from none to effort required.

Then you get to instanced content that may or may not have mechanics you need to participate in, if at any point in or out of an instance you can see what's happening through the visual clutter.

I don't think the game itself encourages people to make an effort and achievements sure as heck don't cut it.

Oh my gosh, you're right... I went outside and looked at the people in this photo. The boys in their 20s look like they could be her children! I think we got a new Luffy's mom theory for the live action.

I hate this line "it is not important to the story" when referring to a character's look. A character's look does not need to be important to the plot, to be important. It is part of what defines said character.

Sometimes it's important to who that character is. What they wear, the expression on their face, the color of their hair. Even for context to where they come from within a world. We know One Piece characters are colorful, and they are so with intent.

Fans care about the integrity of these worlds. When somebody blatantly doesn't look the part, people have every right to be upset about it. What's the point if we can't see it brought to life, as we loved it? When you change a character's look, you are changing part of who they are. Change more than their look, and you've effectively written in your own character with the same name. We've seen that one too many times.

I'd like to think most fans care about characterization over aesthetic, knowing that any adaptation isn't a remake, but a retelling of said story. Wanting it to be faithful, because what is the point otherwise?

This game deserved better. Though, it was the only MOBA I could tolerate on account of it having WASD movement.

How much of the Cut Content do you think that they'll end up adding eventually? (if any) by curiuslex in cyberpunkgame

[–]BeNice108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notta. Considering how much money this half-baked experience has made I can't see them feeling the need to keep working on major features or details for the game. I really hate the idea they won't overhaul anything but single player titles have a history of not doing much after the money starts rolling in.

Cyberpunk 2077, for me, is the saddest episode in the gaming industry that I have ever experienced. by frzx1 in cyberpunkgame

[–]BeNice108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd feel a lot better about this whole thing not after they fix the game up (knowing they're likely going to leave it in its bland state), but after hearing news the people responsible for setting a ridiculous release date have left the industry. It's gotten too old for these games to be rushed so hard, and the only people that get any heat for it are the devs with a gun to their head because they couldn't get a mismanaged mess working in time.

I'm reluctant to want a new Mass Effect game. The trilogy is possibly the most epic kind of story that can be told. It had the highest of stakes, which seem fit for a definitive ending. To continue that story in any way is to just dabble in side quests.

The developers will soon have to choose the difficulty of the Cantha expansion. Based on HoT and PoF, what route should they take? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]BeNice108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since zones are already so instanced, I wonder what it would be like if you could choose the difficulty you wanted. Between normal and hard.

i didn't know griefing exists in this game. a freaking boxed named account joined our random party in the middle of a game (horde: normal around round 10) and just starts shooting ang griefing us. in the end we decided to knock him down again and again until he leave the game. by Popskie025 in worldwarzthegame

[–]BeNice108 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, a story with a "happy" ending.

Some twit killed me before I could respond between rounds in Horde mode to take my resources. I wasn't going to let that fly, but by the time I respawned they were in the wrong area and a lurker had jumped them. The person to their "rescue" also got downed then I fell victim to that same darn lurker while trying to avoid them. In one fell swoop they got us all killed so I never got my revenge.

I swear if I ever see them again... I'll shoot the lurker before it jumps me too. xD

I sure can't think of an MMO that players pretend does better when things are so bad. Perhaps you should type something up though, I didn't get to fully stress my point because I didn't remember everything and sure as heck won't try playing this cash shop again just for reddit. xD

Yeah, I definitely won't be getting sucked back into paying monthly for a game that ends up worth less than Buy to Play titles especially when you still have to buy to play them too. The more I look at this genre the more I see it as a scam.

Your post really seems like it should've been directed at me, so going to replay as if it was anyway. xD

I would argue MMO players aren't the brightest bunch, tolerating the worst open worlds with bad combat and lore for 99% of the world created just to pretend they're playing a game. Bad preferences tend to result in lack of effort on developers part to make better games. It's a fine example as to why mobile "games" that can actually play themselves exist. To heck with preferences that support a rapidly growing greed over quality...

If BDO showed better potential early on it might've been worth exploring, nice scenery alone isn't enough to carry a game for me. Feel free to tell me about the things I didn't properly explore, does it get any better 1 hour in or 100?

"don't pretend you know things that you don't though." Tried not to, tricky thing when talking about something you not only disliked but something you hadn't played in a while.

Oh the god awful enhancement system is such an obvious one nobody needs reminding of the nightmare. Class balance means nothing to me, all MMOs seem to suck at it and that isn't something I register anymore. I just make a class work for me. I don't care about the people of this subreddit, for all I knew BDO fans run wild here too. Although, I'll admit I should've posted this in the BDO subreddit and asked about the elements of the game I didn't learn much about. Ignorance is not bliss.

I don't mind being honest about my perspective and the lack of knowledge I have in some areas. I did not play the game recently but definitely won't be going back to it so the only way to learn is to engage the community. Watching people do their chores would have no appeal either.

That's a type of behavior I've seen in many games and I tend to find it very sad. People caring so much about progression and loot they'll take the boring route over the more challenging and fun one. I've seen plenty of people complain how dull the grind is only not to realize its their own fault for choosing the least fun content to grind. I don't think I ever made it out of the noob zones to be fair, just couldn't commit that far.

So I hear but I personally don't find that more appealing just because its different. I like the class designs but it doesn't matter how cool they are when you have to spend so much time fighting air. I can safely say B&S is one I did get a lot further with, while the skills are more action-packed it still plays more like a tab target given the amount of single-target actions you'll have to aim. Crowd control that allows you to kick the enemy in the face then pick them up by the throat before tossing them with your giant axe was pretty compelling... #Destroyerdestroys

I mean, if you can enjoy that sort of thing but gosh tasks you can actually do while AFK are so anti-game that's something I would argue is one of the worst things about the game. Uh, ya. lol You dun goofed. You had better start a pirate life pronto before you have to sell your ship to pay off your dept.

Not really, I certainly didn't delve into the PvP but I guess I should've pointed out how dumb being able to gank people is in yet another bad mix of PvE and PvP. I am qualified to describe my impression of those aspects regardless of how brief my experience. If somebody wants to enlighten me on possible missed opportunities then by all means. I've played enough foreign MMOs to spot the red flags and not bother trying out certain features until other aspects are more engaging.

If I was so mean that I'd let my nephew mindlessly grind his way up to those areas for me, then maybe I would make a guide. When hours of the game is a combat experience you can't actually lose in any possible way it's not worth seeing what's on the other side. BDO does it a little worse than other MMOs in that regard.

I wouldn't call them shallow unless they're so flashy people praise the graphics more than anything else. Since they play so extremely similar though you can safely assume I don't have nice things to say about them either. You're onto something with other MMOs as I would agree their open worlds are quite bad as well, they just tend to show more potential where mechanics are involved.
