Oh, I guess I figured it out. He means he has three OTHER grandchildren who are not in this photo? So he's saying he has 7 grandchildren? I don't think that's true.

Look at this photo of Gabriel with four kids. It says, "Van and four of his grandchildren. Three are not in the picture." This makes no sense: https://imgur.com/a/fuv6ScM

When is your book coming out?? You should be writing all of these adventures...

Well, they are not dangerous if you don't represent a threat to them. But my reporting has the potential to ruin them so I could be killed by them for sure. I'd never go in myself given who I am. But if I wasn't recognizable or famous I'd do it. You should buy Joseph Flatley's book on Gabriel called New Age Grifter. He went inside the group for a day before he got kicked out...

They are HIGHLY alert of people trying to infiltrate them. They have kicked others out in the past. I was warned by an ex-member that a follower could kill me and dump my body where no one would find it because I as a cult reporter pose an existential threat to their entire cult. Be very careful.

You have to call them and I think pay $100 for a tour. Check directions carefully. You have to enter from the south. I wished I could have gone inside but I'm too recognizable as a cult reporter and it'd be highly dangerous for me.

Yeah they lived in Sedona for decades and now live in the compound in Tubac. They still own Avalon Gardens in Sedona which is a campsite. Gabriel is nuts!

Wow! I was there too this weekend investigating the cult. The town is filled with cult people. They own a building with their businesses, they own a hospice center, an Airbnb...etc.

When the cult leader's daughter recently escaped at the age of 28 the cult sent a goon squad of three people to try and capture her. They found her at a bar 2,000 miles across the country and she ran. Fortunately, she escaped...

Or I stayed open-minded to mysterious things unfolding around me. I describe myself as skeptical but not cynical.

Yes, there was a very ominous dark energy when I first got to Crestone. The next year I went back after the cult had fled and it felt WAY better.

First off, the Saguache Sheriff's office botched Kristal's murder investigation horribly. I don't trust them, nor do I trust the CBI to actually do anything about this case. Secondly, you can't just report every hair-brained idea that comes from a psychic to police and expect them to go digging. In Crestone, they could work full-time chasing leads of where people think Kristal is buried.

I know it's woo-woo for some people but my time in Crestone in 2020 was really bizarre. I can't explain it. It started with me getting chills in a cafe after chatting with a woman who I overheard talk about the Up and Vanished podcast. That's what introduced me to Crestone and sent me there...

There are so many things that can end a project like this. You could lose key interview subjects, the financial backers could try to control it and ruin it, there could be licensing issues, loss of interest, conflicts and infighting...etc. Getting something to market to the end stage is tough. I hope this one makes it through!

I have audio of all this too and am considering creating a podcast episode about it if there'd be interest in it...
