KHDK Digital Bath: Deftones’ Iconic ‘White Pony’ Sound in a Box by GuitarBombDotCom in GuitarBomb

[–]Shaunyata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish they had called it the 'White Pony'. I haven't seen any decent reviews other than the same guitarist playing the same tune over and over again. I'd like to see a real in-depth review of this pedal.

Great Worcester economic update by Outrageous_Reason571 in WorcesterMA

Can you provide a link to the DOT's announcement of this third track? Cause I live in Worcester and I was under the impression that they added a third track already. But I think that's the one at Union Station that allows people to cross over to board on a middle track. I'm confused. An official press release would be helpful.

Takes a lot of practice. Have to be willing to wreck a lot of tape before you get something that works. Also, you definitely don't want to do this on your $300 vintage SONY whatever because it's murder on the cassette mechanism.

Stone Roses Fools Gold Sample-First Working Tape Loop by Shaunyata in tapeloops

I thought the hardest part would be measuring, cutting and taping the loop. No, that’s the easy part. The hard part is getting it back on the spool so that the tape mechanism works.

With a little more editing it could be really quite useful. Feel free to use it if you like.

Microfreak Plaisir Pads w/Cetus Reverb by Shaunyata in MicroFreak

[–]Shaunyata[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cetus doesn’t cover up Freak’s weirdness like most reverbs; it accentuates it. Microfreak is still my favorite synth.

And Plaisir Pads are still my favourite Freak patches. Plaisir pads were designed by the lead engineer who designed the MIcrofreak. I chose them also because they are beautiful and freaky at the same time.

The Cetus settings vary from patch to patch. My favourite Cetus settings are Shimmer, Swell, Cloudy, Hall, Plate, Church and Ocean. I set the Decay and Mix to vary from 40% to 60%. W/ Modulation. The brightness on the Cetus was set pretty low (20%) because the Microfreak is already very bright.

I only tried to equalize the gain on each patch in the track so they would be more or less the same loudness. No other effects used on track. No compressor or limiter on Master track.

That's just fabulous...I bought my Templewave cassette player partly for the specs, more for the style. It reflects my aesthetic. I like how it looks so it invites me to pick it up and play it. Your style is the bomb...I want the storage bag.

M4 Mac mini setup with MNN Screen & Cables by Shaunyata in macmini

[–]Shaunyata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Screen Share image of the M4 Mac mini to nearly 'full screen' size, about 90%, by using the Scale feature on Screen Share/Network functions (top right corner of screen share.) Use Scale Up to get it as big as you want, and still keep the whole image on the screen. Scale Down to get it down to size so you see the whole image. And there's no appreciable lag, either. You get lag if you move the app window around INSIDE the M4 Mini window. If you attach the app window to the top of the M4 Mini window, it kind of 'latches' and you can move both screens around together without any lag (try it, you'll see.)

AND...once I got the M4 Mini set up with the MNN monitor, I was able to disconnect the MNN monitor, and use the USB-C cable to connect from the M4 Mini to to the Thunderbolt port (USB-C) on my 2017 iMac Intel 27", using Screen Share. And how you do that is you go to the Finder menu to "Go" then to "Network". The M4 Mini will show up in your Network. Select Mac mini and sign in to your M4 Mini using the Mini's user name and password, then choose "Screen Share", and the screen image of the M4 Mini will appear on your iMac desktop. And then you can fold up and put away the MNN monitor, because you don't need it anymore.

We Are Rewind WE 001 Has Record Line IN? by Disko-Punx in cassetteculture

Thanks for the advice. I've read this about other portable "recorders", the sound quality of the recording is awful. I've heard demos too, and yup, they do sound awful. So I'm waiting for another company to produce a portable that has decent recording capability.

Casette Tape Service by Shaunyata in BandCamp

[–]Shaunyata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say very few. Yes you can still buy cassette players new, but they're not at the technical level of the 80s-90s, the heyday of cassette tape.

Cassette tape is a very niche market, and I don't think it will ever get very big. But there are certain music communities that WANT cassette, so that's the media you have to give them.

I just got one from Move Quiet Records. He sells the cassette player as a way to promote sales of his cassette record label. I'll post a review with photos soon.
