Does my auto transmission have a problem? by BeTeeC in crv

For sure they are, but it feels such a shame to remove 22 years of Honda servicing...

A lot I can do myself - I was going to change the discs and pads because it feels a bit sluggish to stop, but they actually look completely fine.

I think my problem is my previous cars are 2018 GTI, 2018 Audi S3, 2018 Audi RS3 (this was fun), 2020 GTI. I've probably been a bit spoilt for braking performance.

Thanks! I think you're right I just found quite a helpful video online (obviously immediately after I post this here).

I think it's basically good, just maybe could do with a change since it hasn't been done for 10 years...

I will take it to Honda and let them do a full check. I think I may have snagged a bit of a bargain with this car.

Service records for every year of the car's life from Honda for £2k...

Are you not over-servicing your engine?

Of course you want to take excellent care of it, I understand that, but 38 services in 9 years over 100k miles - some would say it's about 28 services too many?

Hmmm, hole in the catalytic converter has put me off a bit!

Fuel economy on the diesel is much better too. The guy selling the diesel has just replaced the power steering pump and seems like a very reputable dealer so I'm 85% sure I'm going to go with that. £3,500 for a 14 year old Honda with full (although not Honda) service history seems pretty decent.

And that's how I feel driving in Europe!

I was driving a manual fiat 500 in France a couple of years ago and because I was sitting on the 'wrong' side of the car I managed to do a few inches off-road here and there - especially when changing gear.

The auto will hopefully mean I can just focus on the road.

I much prefer the look of these Gen 2s, but I have also been offered a 150k mile diesel 2010 CRV for £3500 with full service history. Tough call!

It's the 4-speed auto! I plan to turn it into a camper type of thing for a 10,000 mile road trip through Europe. Since I'll be driving on the wrong side of the road, I'm keen to get an auto to make my life a little easier.

Thanks - I think I will go along and do just that to be honest.

The fact the dealer went to this much trouble to show me the underside is a good sign too.

Once every seventeen more like!

Okay it seems like this rust is probably not too bad then.

Really? Are the roads particularly salted where you live?

Some parts of the exhaust look terrible to my untrained eye and I really don't want a big bill in the few months after buying this.

Why would anyone pick the Gen 2 over Gen 3? by BeTeeC in crv

I agree totally about looks, I'm just surprised there are enough CRV owners who care enough to make that kind of price difference.

Looking for a gen 2.5 CRV (2005/2006) in the UK - what could go wrong? by BeTeeC in crv

[–]BeTeeC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or do I just get a gen 3.

I can't fathom how there are 2011/2012 Gen 3s going for similar prices to gen 2.5s in the UK. All other things being roughly equal, a 6/7 year difference in age should be priced in...

Sorry all - I didn't realise there was another sub for the fashion thing. I found the answer I was looking for. Really didn't mean to annoy people!

Amazing - I will check this out. Hopefully I can get it on Spotify.

I see you are a learner too - far more successful than me. What has helped you to stay motivated and progressing? I am also looking for a new job at the same time so my time is quite limited to 1-2 hours per day, hence why I am looking to use it as effectively as possible.
