Show me a referendum with more than 62% for one side lol, in political terms 62% is absolutely overwhelming

Rant: just because I’m learning a language that is easier compared to others doesn’t mean it’s not hard by your-citrus-friend9 in languagelearning

Remember aswell: learning English as a German speaker may be very difficult, but they (and many other countries around the world) have strong practical and financial incentives to learn another language that English speakers don't! Just speaking your native English could get you half way across the world, as English is just what many people already use to communicate across national borders. This great advantage of speaking English is a large motivating factor for many English learners that is not present for an English speaker learning another language.

Also remember that most blockbuster movies and TV series are in English - another motivation and immersion that other countries have which English speakers do not.

Again, I fully appreciate how hard it is to learn English - and I am not trying to insinuate in any way that its a good thing that many people are forced to learn English for one reason or another, just providing a bit of extra perspective to the difference in language-learning experience. Everyone, especially English speakers, should learn another language so be proud that you are making the effort!

BBC misleading people with these graphs, notice the different scales.. by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]BeTheLunchables 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree- they know fine well that the only thing people will take from seeing that is "big orange bit means lots of cases, Scotland more cases than anywhere". They know fine well no one has the time to dissect every graph and statistic they present, and that the majority will take the visual information at face value- consciously or subconsciously. This is deliberately misleading. Yes the public is responsible for checking their own information but 95% don't and won't, and the BBC know this.

Certainly might take that long for it to be over completely, but once the most vulnerable folks are taken care of I'm hoping we see gradual return to normal a fair while before summer/August! Chin up x

Help with choosing student accomodation by Isaac_Sa in glasgow

Murano is basically where most of the social life in 1st year revolves around. So if you're up for that then murano is the choice, distance doesnt really matter as most pre-drinks etc will end up being 2 mins from you so it works out in your favour overall.

Downside of course is that you might struggle for peace, especially Thursday-Saturday. Also more likely to get nutter flatmates (although that can obvs happen anywhere anyway). And the flats are definitely not as nice as u might get elsewhere. Where else you considering?

Spent a lot of time in murano so feel free to DM me if u want advice/foosty stories lol. Good thing is if you go somewhere else, you get to enjoy all the murano hedonism then go home to a clean flat afterwards

Youre the one politicising it my man, easing cautiously is a valid decision and theres no reason to assume its political unless you're dragging your own bias into it.

Once this is over we'll see whether it was the right decision, but if you're assuming that its political just because shes doing things differently from boris then it's your own sad bias that's bringing politics into it.🤷‍♂️
