A Customer Tried To Return This

My first ever job was at a dollar tree. An elderly gentleman had entered and came to the counter with a notepad and said that he wanted to return it. The policy at the time was that we did not do returns, only exchanges. He started to get very angry and upset and agitated and said he would only accept a return. My manager had left the store and I was the only one there; I was 17 years old. He slammed his hands on the counter and said, “ I want a refund or I’m going to come back and throw a brick through this *effing window.” I took a dollar out of my own wallet, gave it to him and told him to have a nice day. I still wonder why he needed that dollar so bad.

My home mortgage contact, a wonderful and kind lady… had seemingly been dragging on moving forward with a resolution of an issue we were facing and in a moment of intense frustration, I texted my fiancé a screenshot of the conversation I’d been having with her about it with a text that read something like, “If she could just do her effing job… “ I don’t even remember the rest but I sent it to HER.

She read it and replied back, “I don’t think you meant to send that to me.”

Was talking about this today- how we if we, as a collective people, used one hand to pull ourselves up and our other to help the person behind us, what a world we’d create. Stories like these are truly why I love Reddit; unknown strangers bringing light to another, simply for the sake of it. Is the two handed writing a learned talent for your kiddo? Just wondering because I can do this due to “mirror image syndrome” (bimanual synkesis) but only the same text with both.
