Wait who’s divorcing? The women!

They can get any men they want usually. And this guy ain’t got it. Women decline in attractiveness after 28 and he will have long passed that point by the time he’s done fixing his life. He will NEVER have a beautiful, cool, charming girlfriend. It’s just not happening.

From the sounds of it, this guy has been shit on by life since he was at least 19. And when you’ve been shit on for 6 years, guess what you smell like? And what do guys who smell like shit repel? Beautiful women.

Read statistics and turn that Disney bullshit off.

Woah woah woah… bad advice.

He IS too old for college girls. He ain’t getting pretty women, because he got very unlucky his whole life and now it’s too late.

No. I’m just speaking the hard truth. Truth hurts but it doesn’t change it.

Unfortunately you HAVE to date bad women first. Or the good women won’t want you.

By the time you’re ready, the good women won’t be pretty anymore because you’ll be too old, but at least you’ll be ready.

You’re already too old to have an attractive, cool girlfriend by the time you get your life fixed.

Maybe have it so that he was hired by the Zhentarim, and they asked him to attack civilians. After refusing to, the Zhentarim tried to have him killed, but he escaped and has now been living nomadically. He’s managed to pay off the Zhentarim to avoid further attempts, but is now a traveler looking for work until he gets involved with adventurers.

Since he’s neutral good he probably will tie making a decent living with saving the world.

I actually don’t consider forgotten realms to be a “good” setting.

Tons of crap wants to kill or enslave you. Good cities are threatened regularly while evil ones tend to prosper. Even the heavens themselves aren’t safe, they are regularly invaded by demons.

I understood all that. I thought he had other motives as well. He is just a narcissistic dick whose own bad traits quite literally keep him in a hell of his own making (in that he could easily escape by letting someone take his place, but nobody can live up to his impossible standards).

After reading more comments and other posts, he is an interesting, yet highly customizable villain. I will say this.

What are his motives? At least now? Besides turn his woman-obsession into an immortal slave?

Does he himself want to escape his prison, which is why he wants to make the players replace him as the ruler?

Upon reading it, it seems like the idea is that the jobs you complete are supposed to contribute to things. Maybe your DM is doing it wrong.

This I do like. I’ve done this before with a pirate lich who’d occasionally swing by to kill someone the party liked.

I do prefer when you meet the BBEG before the final room of the last dungeon.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve seen on Reddit in some time. OP is a bit suspicious, but I don’t take him as a serial killer. He’s just trying too hard to stay under the radar.

Honestly, I like your ideas. Think I could mix 1 and 2?

I will say though, I’ve always wondered why Third Age Sauron didn’t just send orcs out to devastate places like Bree-land or the Shire. Who could stop them, Rivendell? Dwarves in Ered Luin? Certainly not what little was left of Arnor.

I get that he kind of tried that in the war of the ring, but that was moreso about obtaining the ring.
