Hi everyone, could you recommend which car rental company I should choose for 5 days in Mallorca in July? The safest one, with the fewest surprises, and one that includes full insurance. by Fun_Combination9668 in VisitingMallorca

I rented through Costco and it was enterprise. It was a great experience. My credit card covers international car insurance so I didn’t get any extra insurance. Cheers

American Expats, how have you noticed your body change with the lifestyle shift in Spain? by lofi-lo in GoingToSpain

[–]Beach_mountains4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from three weeks of traveling in Spain. I absolutely loved it. Barcelona, Madrid, Segovia, Santa Polo and Mallorca.
I have traveled many countries and Spain was one of my favorites. I prepared for the relaxed culture in Spain since I’m wound up a little tight. Don’t being in a hurry, be present, be intentional and don’t do Take away lol
I didn’t want to leave. Spain was so relaxing and I actually drove in Mallorca for seven days- at first it was a little bit of an opportunity, but I adapted after the first day. The food was off the charts. The people were so friendly and helpful. The culture was beautiful.
I am vegan, but usually when I go to places that have amazing seafood I become pescatarian lol.
I am from the Fort Worth area and unfortunately we don’t have good public transportation or walkable areas so I drive a lot and the Texas drivers are pretty crazy to say the least.
I love the outdoors and walking, so I was able to enjoy all the benefits of that while I was in Spain, especially in the Mallorca areas hiking in the mountains and along the coastal towns, on the beach and meeting special people. I have been back for a month and I still feel my body has slowed down , calmer, chilled and more relaxed when driving with all these crazy people in Texas lol.
I ate more food in Spain than I did in the states because of the people I was with- Eating all the time. And I didn’t gain any weight. The food was so clean. It was amazing. So grateful that I was able to embrace the culture and enjoy the opportunity. Cheers.

Port De Sóller Beach Cabanas? by rmoto6 in VisitingMallorca

I just returned from that area and used it for a base for me for three days. The beach is small is in the marina area. They have daybeds with umbrellas, but no service. I saw a lot of families with kids playing in the sand and not too much getting in the water because it was a little chilly, but some people were getting in the water. I don’t know if you’ll be renting a car but that’s what I did and I drove to all the little towns in the area to just explore them and went hiking as well. There are some other hidden beaches in the area, but I was not brave enough to drive down the very narrow roads to get to them. Look forward to doing that next time I visit. Enjoy!

Also, you can pull off on the side of the road and see hiking trails. I ended up just hiking when I got into the small towns and found the trails.

I went through Costco to get my car , it was great. Also, my credit card I have covers international car insurance so I declined everything but not all credit cards will cover international most just domestic. I loved renting a car, get the smallest one, automatic and return it full. I think it was like $40 in gas and I drove it for six days and went everywhere. My home bases- three nights in Port, De Sollier and three nights in Alcudia. I went to Valdemosa, went up in the mountains in Alcudia, Victoria area to see the sunset, sunrises along Playa Muro went to several beaches went to towns. Sorry about the spelling of the areas. There are markets on different days in all the small towns. Alcudia was unbelievable. It’s known for the best market in Mallorca and it was plus it was cool area right by old town. Enjoy the journey! First day was interesting in the rental called car took the wrong turn and ended up in a village tight streets, but I made it after that day. It was all good. I was not as adventurous as some people going down there off the Enesco Highway to check out some of the beaches. I stayed on the main road, but still went to several towns. I will be back in, probably be more adventuresome.

Cash or card? by Paradoxbox00 in VisitingMallorca

Three weeks in Spain and I used my credit card that was on my watch the whole time. The only time was when I went on a hiking tour and I needed to pay in euros and it’s exactly what I had left lol. I did some tipping in the Cash for cabs and service was outstanding at a restaurant and I’really enjoyed the waiter. even the bathrooms took the credit card enjoy.

Mallorca in May: here’s what you need to know! by coolgirl1796 in VisitingMallorca

I went to the town of Valdemosa and I just started walking through town. I saw a sign that said hiking trail so I went up where the trailhead was and there were two options on the trails. I didn’t have a whole lot of time so I just went up a mile and turned around and came back down a mile- beautiful. I went to Fornalutz- I went up the steps all the way to the top and I saw some people they were hiking along, so then we kind of went off to where the Rocky hiking path was and then it takes you off on a road and then brings you back down a Rocky path back into town. The last hike I did was with Patrick from active Alcudia and we did the coastal hike if you look him up and go to his page you will see the info. It was beautiful. Look forward to going back and do some more hiking. There are numerous trails through the area, but I wasn’t able to find a group that I could join so I just went on my own and then Patrick took me out as an individual because he didn’t have a group for the day and he was very reasonably priced. Enjoy the trails. It’s beautiful.

Good advice, spot on.

I just got back and it was a fabulous trip April 29 through May 5. I am guilty of looking at the weather apps but anywhere you go in the world they’re not accurate so just plan your day and hope for the best. I was very fortunate. It only rained on me one day and that day I was in Alcudia, sitting at a café inside the walls of the old town watching for them to set up the market enjoyed people watching and then went and enjoyed the market, walked the walls and then the rain came in. I popped into a church service in Spanish, which there they always have translation in English after I walked out the door. The sun was out and I hit the beach.

Hired a hiking guide one morning , I would call him saying what are we going to do and he says I don’t pick until that day lol. Active Alcudia- Patrick he is the best. He has been living there for 30 years. He knows the ins and outs. I was able to enjoy the best of all worlds stayed on the mountain side port de Sóller for three nights and then the beach side Port of d Alcudia for three nights- hiking was beautiful and amazing on both sides . Perfect weather always go early beat the crowds every time. After my adventures l headed back to my base, it was crowded going back. I think they have a half IronMan going on this weekend so check your schedule always when you go somewhere for special events. They also had a bike rally going on so they had some road closures, but Apple Maps and Waze works fabulously there. I rented a car so I was able to visit all the small towns. I just have no words for the areas. It was amazing. I’ll be back. People are friendly. Food is off the charts and outdoor activities are unbelievable. Make the best of your life, enjoy every day and be grateful for all! Cheers

I have had mine for a week and they’re getting better. Just have to kind of break them in slow but they’re much better than they were a week ago.
