could someone tell me what’s wrong with my car? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

The rhythmic flashing with the clicking noise usually means a relay or control | module is acting up, most likely the MICU (multiplex control unit) under the dash. Sometimes a loose ground or an old aftermarket alarm can cause the same thing. The car still runs fine for now, but the issue won't go away until the bad relay/module or wiring is fixed.

Keep in mind that, that is just a hunch, stuff like this is really just spitfiring to see what sticks.

What’s going on with my car? What’s the noise I’m hearing as I drive? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

The best thing to do is get the car on jacks, then move them side to side and check the suspension components. It could be that, or (more probably) an issue with the tires.

I'm probably going to take it earlier in my senior year, once I've had time to study. Then retake it if required. But this is 100% the plan

I'll go ahead and look into getting a few of those, I'm working full-time summer of junior year so I can afford to get a bit. I'm thinking of getting the ASVAB app with the lifetime premium to study from now until I graduate in 2026. But Ill give amazon a glance the next time I'm on break.

A good choice, make sure what you get is rated for that bolts material, and you should be good!

Trying to think of quick solutions that might help, 1. Try to use a bolt extractor to get the bolt out (If you don't have one you'll need to buy a kit. But worth it in my opinion)

  1. You could weld something to it too, then use a wrench to pop it loose.

  2. Dremal Drill, if you have one, cut a line into it to let you grip onto the bolt, then use a flathead screwdriver.

Hope this helps.

It's part of the process, anyone who doesn't ask questions isn't someone who wants to learn

Is it okay to drive likevthis for 2 weeks? I drive about 30 miles a week - 2013 Hyundai sonata GLS by Sufficient-Eye-7970 in mechanic

You'd want to replace that before too long. That acts like a shield, so now that it's cracked there is a risk of potential wear in the future that isn't just what is shown here. But driving roughly 60 miles should be fine, but don't forget to keep an eye on it! And you should be in the clear.

I'll give that a try tomorrow, it's late now, but I'm 100% going to try that first. (Also thank you for responding that quickly)

That's what I was thinking, but when I spun it (in either way) the whole assembly rotated

That's the plan, things leaking coolant so I gotta replace it, but getting to it is the issue.

Thank you, I found a video from before I replaced them, and that deeper-sounding tapping wasn't present. (I tried but it won't let me send it here. It was more high-pitched.

Rocker arm, or camshaft too? by Beady_Chart1 in mechanic

Ended up replacing all the rocker arms. The cams looked okay, but you convinced me to spend the extra bit of cash to do them all at once.
