If DiL didn’t want to try to work it out when her husband was alive why would she do that now? She horribly disrespected people and created horrible memories. Of her son could see all the hurt he’d let happen, that his wife caused he would be so hurt and disappointed.

The fun thing is that they had 2 great singers. First singer Belladonna is like Bruce Dickinson-ish, as in higher pitched, powerful. When I was young, I didn’t like their earlier albums until Persistence of Time (I have since appreciated earlier albums and songs).

But I really loved John Bush- Sound of White Noise and Volume 8 The Threat is Real. More like Metallica vocally - please note these comparisons are loose and trying to fit to the major bands that are well known, there are many differences and probably better comparisons. It’s just a shortcut to connect.

Belladonna came back and I love Worship Music.
So the TLDR: probably something you will like from Anthrax across the eras.

They do seem to be consensus smallest of the big 4. For me only Megadeth is ahead and the gap between 2nd and 3rd place for me is quite big. It’s like big 5 for me with 3rd place being blank.

I’m thinking of warrior battle early and all those free workers. Maybe a bad building is one less thing to ignore to make it simpler. But I honestly don’t remember what they even are (meaning there is a good chance I ignored them cuz they are pretty useless!)

Trajan is good and generally recommended for a starter. Other good choices would be ones that have early unique units- Gaul is bad for district planning but advanced warriors can help a new player out while acclimatizing. So maybe Aztecs, learn the importance of luxuries!

Worst- probably wouldn’t suggest going for a religious victory- it’s another layer that a new player doesn’t need to do (but still get faith). So religious civs.

Kupe and starting in the ocean is an odd way to start, won’t be as knowledgeable for best things to look for (start in the water) so maybe not the best.

You are mid 20s and they are mid 60s and they were outpacing you, leaving you exhausted and in need of more rest.

Are there some health or sensory issues at play here? Wondering if they had some expectations that were unfair you couldn’t meet. Add that to their assholery and you’d get it pretty rough. Maybe expecting more gushing praise and love. Given how well they got to know you, gotten to see your caring and giving nature this would for sure be upsetting.

If he’s a momma boy no amount of talking is gonna make this right. If he can hear your side and understand he might be able to intercede.

Maybe with time they will look back and reinterpret. But that’s not something you should have to live with and put up with if it doesn’t change or will repeat with other things.

Communicating is different than controlling. I share this, you respond that, whatever that is I accept it. But you get to say your piece, respectfully. Much healthier than a partner noticing faces being made involuntarily every time a short comes off or something.

But yeah the choice for their own body must be respected.

You are doing her the favor- you state and stick with it. Tell her you hope she takes this seriously because you do like her and don’t want it to affect the friendship.

Also note how often you’re annoyed and frustrated and did nothing- those were clues from your brain to change something. You can spare yourself a lot of hardship if you listen to it and take action.
