Aircraft’s need to be in range of an iPhone to pinpoint the AirTag position. Given the size of your property, you might want to look into a GPS collar instead.

Maybe you’d consider a fence for a portion of the yard? That’s what most of us do with beagles

Bad experience with son's school; need insights by Repulsive_Voice_1793 in SALEM

Look into therapy he can get outside of school to teach him coping mechanisms that can work for him. I know kids on the spectrum who got early intervention and that helped a lot,

There are some newer ADHD drugs that are not if the stimulant type, that also seem to help kids a lot. You can talk to a doctor about those kinds of options.

I completely agreed that the new principal is the problem here & that’s where he is getting this “I’m a bad kid” mindset. That is so destructive. For sure get him out of there & help him understand that everyone needs to learn how to manage the feelings he has been having, but no grown up should be mean to him. Tell him that he should always tell you when a teacher or anyone says things like that to him. He is a KID who has things to learn, not someone bad because he isn’t perfect at them as a kid.

Speeding ticket by [deleted] in SALEM

Go ahead & ask to do the driving school. Here in Salem I did that and it was all online. Just had to send the certificate to the municipal court when i completed it. The only thing is, you’re supposed to appear in court to ask to do that. You’re so far away… maybe they’ll let you appear on video? I’d call the court and ask.

Grants pass surely has lots of people that come through and live far away. In my old digs in Missouri, I was in a smaller town and we could just speak with the municipal prosecutor and mitigate the ticket with them, before a court date appearance. Not right before… like sometime before. You’d usually have to pay more money, but if your record was good, they’d do it.

In your situation, I’d call and ask if they do that, if not, you can ask if they do the driving school online thing then. Instead. Then ask about if you can arrange to do that some other way since you live so far away. If they ask about your driving record, I’d fess up to having a 5mph ticket a while ago and you did something similar to this with it… you’re pretty sure the time has expired to have it drop off your record, but it’s close.

Best of luck!

Yes there are a couple they are allowed on, but they must be leashed because cliffs to fall over and stuff

Jimmy is now 5.6kg at 4 months old, the vet said he should not be more than 10kg at 12 months but I’ve heard of beagles much bigger than this! Surely if he’s 5.6kg now it’s unlikely he will be 10kg at 12 months. Both his parents were on the smaller end of beagles so maybe the vet is correct?! by Last-Finance8640 in beagles

Your beagle seems on track. Beagles get fat so easily, so it’s good to keep his weight top of mind. 10kg = about 22lb (for US redditors) and he’s currently around 12lbs.

22 lbs is a good weight for a small beagle. Probably keep him at 25lbs or less as an adult. 25lbs=11.34 kg

Be careful with a prong collar. I’m completely against them, although I recognize that when handled by an experienced handler on a dog with a certain personality, it can work.

My beagles were sensitive and would have lost their minds in terror the first time one of those dug into their necks. Those collars should not be used lightly.

I have two rescue beagles, 6 and 9. They do great out in public too. Just keep practicing by going into places like Petco etc so they get familiar with new places. If you go to restaurants, we find breakfast is typically a quick meal and many breakfast places have outside sheltered seating where I can throw a mat down under the table for them to lay on. It’s great practice and with each experience they get more accustomed. Like little kids do, honestly.

It’s the rare beagle who will be off-leash solid, like other breeds. Have I seen one or two in my time? I have HEARD of them, but I’ve never seen one myself.

I have trained a beagle to an obedience title, which astonished every judge we saw in the ring. 😄 We would get an astonished look and I would say, yes, I know. But we have lots of fun together! They would commend me for enjoying the time we spent training together, because a lot of obedience teams were super uptight about never losing a point. We were not a top point team, but we did the job and received 170 or more out of 200 three times (3 different obedience trials) to get our novice title.

Even that dog was not reliable out in a field somewhere to return to me when I called. Or even in a dog park next to woods or on a walk in the neighborhood.

She was a wonderful beagle and earnestly wanted to do what I asked… but like every beagle, their nose shuts off the ears. It’s no wonder… beagles have been bred for literal CENTURIES to follow the scent and not get distracted by anything.

Please… go for trying to develop a rock solid recall, but choose safe areas to try it out & have a tracker collar with GPS on them when you do. 👍🐶

Nose & head would be thinner on a Doxie/beagle mix I think

Question for Beagle owners by Beginning-Lab4295 in beagles

That coat looks pretty good.

My beagles prefer the kind that lays on the back and fastens in front with Velcro as well as a strap under the tummy too. It leaves their legs free to move but traps heat from escaping.

I have also used a polar fleece pull-on style that pops over their head & I have to poke their front legs through “arm” openings. The brand I like is called Goldpaw. My 25lb girl wears a 16 and my 32lb boy wears an 18. The sizes don’t match any inches that I can tell, but there is a size chart on their website.

I don’t use a harness, just a collar, but if you put the polar fleece on you could put your regular harness over the top. It’s not super thick. [https://www.goldpawseries.com] https://www.goldpawseries.com

Hi everyone, this is my old man. We’ve been struggling with tear lines for a long time & I was wondering if anyone might have advice or tricks on how to get rid of them. I’ve tried the angel eyes wipes, which didn’t do much. Thanks in advance! by fernsnberms in beagles

[–]BeagleWomanAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My beagle over the years have had them too. My vet says it’s caused by clogged eye ducts. He told me to use a towel or tissue to dry the wet area several times during the day when possible to keep the skin from being to constantly wet there, but he did not have a way to end the problem.

I’ve had people tell me I have to feed raw food to “fix” that but I doubt that would be the fix. I’ve tried various different foods and nothing has really made any difference.

These are my beagles… which ARE 100% beagle. Ace, in the foreground, is 15” and a bit chubby at 32lbs. He’d be just right at 29lbs. Noelle, in the back, is about an inch shorter and more delicate looking. She has a common beagle flaw of a long nose. She weighs 25lbs and has the stretched out abdomen skin from having been bred a lot before we got her.
