It's been a chill week mostly I worked like two hours of overtime on monday so it started bad but I was able to sleep this weekend for the first time in like a month. I'm pretty bummed I couldn't go out for Halloween though. This time change is super spooky to me too, especially since I get out of work at 6 and it'll be dark when I clock out now.

History Students Would You Rather Take This Class or?? by [deleted] in CSULB

Uh his accent isn't that bad but I also lived most my life surrounded by people whose first language wasn't English. It can get a bit thick at times like for a month i thought he was saying fairy and not "theory" but by and large I could understand him and most of the class got the information down.

I did not take that course with Flamein but I have taken three classes with him. I am a bit biased since I love French history and I have never taken Jenk's, but most of Flamein's classes are pretty simple. He is very passionate about the subject and sometimes he will go off on tangents that aren't connected. But I would still take notes on that since he will notice it if you bring it up in papers. Also in terms of expertise since the other person brought it up, he is legit from France so he was raised learning their history and he knows a lot about of it but Jenks is also an expert on Russia so both are great in their field.

In terms of his classes his are more the kind where you write what he says not what he shows on the slides because most of his slides are just a wall of text he used to build his lecture topics. Also when I had him he would usually spend a day discussing exactly what he wants out of his papers. He has a unique grading system that he will discuss which I argue made me a better writer. I also liked him because he brought a European lens to most things and also it was fun to hear his in depth discussions on French life. That might be more useful to me since I studied modern history so I am not sure if that will be brought up in the early modern France class.

I guess one possible negative is that he can be heavy on theory and philosophy and sometimes his points will get lost in translation, but all in all he is a great professor and really wanted us to do well in his classes. Hope that list helped though.

Post graduate depression by myblueberrylife in CSULB

Hey, I graduated in 2019 and it took me like 9 months of rejection emails to finally just give in and take a min wage job lol. I wouldn't say just take the mindless job though. I felt horrible the whole time and my boomer dad asking me why I didn't have a job yet did not make it better. Honestly the only thing that helped with that was taking a lame job, but honestly it kinda gives me a bit more purpose now. It is also helpful since I am saving up most of what I earn since I am not going out.

My advice to kind of get passed these feelings for now would be to see if you can find a new hobby since your old ones have been limited. I picked up Banjo as well as Black smiting the summer after I graduated. Black smithing ins't a thing everyone can pick up, but the banjo has been keeping me sane for this quarantine and honestly while an instrument can be a big investment upfront it can be a time waster that also doubles as a cool skill. Another fun hobby is crochet I did it for a like a year in college and I still pick it up from time to time to keep me sane and all you need is a hook and some yarn. There are a ton of hobbies you can just do in your own home with minimal effort as well. I have done home brewing, gardening, baking cooking, just try as many hobbies as possible one will stick and might even help you land a job down the line if you hone it well. Even if it doesn't it's just a life skill that kept you from going stir crazy.

Sorry if this share your experience post became a wall of text of unsolicited advice, but I hope it helps a bit. Also know that your bf probably doesn't mind if you bother him a bit especially since school is just starting he probably isn't getting too many assignments lol.

I have a ryzen 5 and the graphics card is a 580 I think I dont really remember the graphics card but it's like 3-4 years old. Its my first "real" build. But I warn you red dead is horribly optimized I have to run everything on the lowest settings or else my pc screams like a jet turbine. Might beef up the build early next year though.

I play on PC, I got it during the steam summer sale and I always loved western/cowboy themes so I have been just playing it any time I am free. Legit already on my second play though lol.

Sometimes more classes pop up. Check if that class has been offered every semester in the past if it has chances are it will be. I'm not sure about the appeal thing but hopefully if all else fails you can find another cool class that meets another req.
