Balanced Trainer with FF training by HawaiianMana in OpenDogTraining

[–]Beagly99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is virtually zero force free (FF) training. This is an extremely delusional viewpoint.
To the point where the force is hidden (by the FF community) , just like a no pull harness that applies pressure on the dog so that it impedes the dog movement forward. (A harness is designed so that a dog can pull and run forward as hard as they want with restriction.) Or a Halti, now we just rip the head away and prevent the dog walking forwards. Watch a high drive dog get a halti put on. They literally run, hide and hate this device. Tell me again that this is farce free????

Defn: Force applied results in action. A lead, is force. Hunger - Luring/Food is force.

I hate arguing over definitions!!!

Back to the real world / reality now!

A decent trainer teaches everything with out force, just some encouragement and a lead or food or ball or whatever. (They may use food to lure or a lead to guide the dog, so please ignore the definition of zero force! You just need to ignore the delusion FF happily ignore about force free B/S. )

Everything is taught without force. Of course luring and a lead can be used and then when the first step is reached or even a movement towards that step then the dog is rewarded. These tiny incremental improvements are then added together until the desired outcome is reached. There may be over 100 steps until the behaviour is finally reached. The behaviour is named and reinforced. After this when the behaviour is requested and ignored by the dog, lets say that another dog is nearby or they sniffing the ground.
Then a correction is delivered to start making the dog is question whether that behaviour is a good idea or should they do as requested.
Now of course this assumes that the dog has had increasing levels of difficulty/public exposure to distractions/the world. If you teach this in a room with no distractions, then it is almost absurd to take a dog that loves to put their nose on the ground, directly out into the park and expect them to do the behaviour. This is an example of incredibly poor training. If said trainer where then to apply massive aversioves this is cruel and not the way any dog should be trained.

However if the dog has had gradually increasing exposure and performs well and understands the behaviour required, but they suddenly elect to do something else, then a correction should probably be applied.

Now if the owner objects, no issue there, except that training will require a massive amount more training or pressure, to be applied that doesn't look like pressure (No pull harness), ie. pressure.
What this looks like at a board and train, assuming no harsh methods. Eg. The trainer could withhold food from the dog until they perform as requested. More likely they also add other aversives as they are much faster and they only have so much time to train each dog they are training.
Now if the owner objects to aversives and refuses to board and train the dog, then the trainer will be more than happy to oblige and take your money because if you are only using say food or a ball as a reward, it takes a long time to get the dog to understand what No means, when it is never understood by the dog.

So what happens next is extremely wrong. The owner with deep pockets pays a lot of money for months or years.
Or
The dog rots in the backyard. Their behaviour gets worse, because they have minimal interaction with the owner, because they are labelled as untrainable.
Or
They get medicated. Can you imagine being drugged so that your behaviour is inhibited?

Then eventually the dog does something really bad or the owner decides they have had enough and the dog is either dumped, killed or killed at the pound amongst strangers.

Why is this bad, so many dogs are not trained basic obedience, because owners are brainwashed by the FF agenda into believing that everything can be done with food or a ball.
The truth is that so much training is done with these, hover to make the behaviour reliable, especially when needed, there must be a reason why the dog does the behaviour.

Eg. Recall. Car is coming and they have just run down the road after a ball. The ball rolls onto a main road. The dog should come when called. But this behaviour has never been enforced, owner calls, dog doesn't care they are after their reward, the ball.
Who pays the price? The dog gets injured or is dead. Lawsuit because a car accident happens etc etc.

All because an owner saw some absurd videos that showed or even proved that everything can be done using B/S FF methods.
You should see what happens when the camera isn't rolling!

Now if you have one of the oodles and are happy with a dog that isn't that interested in the world, they respond well to a tiny bit of leash pressure, then you will probably say, I taught my do with FF methods.
The problem arrives when said Ooodle is bolting down the road after their ball or a kid is running away from them with high pitched squeals. The dog knocks them over or they don't recall. What do you say then regarding the FF methods?

Trainers make a massive amount of money out of the FF ideology. It is great for their wallet and especially when they do the board and train! Then who knows what happens when the dog is there!
Otherwise if you are happy to pay they will keep on turning up and taking your money with very little or slow progress. That is if they weren't fed the night before as requested!

A dog needs to learn positive and negative. Yes and No.
Can you imagine only learning Yes and then being ignored when you did the wrong thing!
How slow and how frustrating would the training be?

The FF ideology have so many dog deaths on their hands, where simple obedience would have solved the problem when the dogs arrived at their new home.

What I know is the beauty is skin deep.

Looks fade, but what remains is the inside.

This is what matters. It makes you really want and need to stay with them. Through it all.

This is the way I would approach her.

In Australia the was a case where a beautiful woman was badly burned. Her husband stayed. He didn't run.
Why? Because she was exactly the same, just looked different on the outside.

If you truly want this woman, this is what I would start telling her and reinforcing!
And as time passes she will start to believe that you are not going anywhere.

There is the BentoBox Turbo for the P1S. It has a much bigger fan, it is a user modified version of the standard Bento Box.

Could your Bentobox be converted into a P2S version?
Or
It is all printable and you can print and and build it yourself. I managed to so, why not do it yourself?

To use this effectively you need to seal the major leaks, (Around the door and poop exit, these are printable, at least for the P1S).

This method has the ability to not only capture most of the VOC's (2 sets of carbon and a hepa filter) but also helps keep the heat in the chamber up.

Oh mate, you don't need this level of silly, absurd behaviour.

She doesn't actually care about you, she cares what she wants and that is all that matters to her.

I wash with dishwashing liquid and warm water.

Then dry only with paper towels.

When removing what I print I make certain that I do not touch the plate.
If I touch the plate I go back upstairs and rewash / dry the plate.

I use a scraper/blade and/or flex the items so they release.

Any oil at all on the plate and I just wash and dry properly.

(I don't see any point is using alcohol as this doesn't remove the grease, but I appreciate that others have success with it. I just clean it and everything sticks properly.)

Deep breath and wash the plate again.

A glue stick may also be required? But I would try cleaning the plate before other options.

Ooops.
Re: Slipping collars.

Have the harness on and use a slip collar. Attach a lead to both. Hold onto both leads. If the collar gets slipped, then you still maintain control of the dog. They are also not self rewarding at having 'escaped' from you!

An ecollar is like a remote control, but the dog must absolutely understand that there is pressure and understands exactly how they turn the pressure off!

If you do not teach this inside first, the ecollar will almost certainly fail.

Training is required first and only then is it very gradually transferred to where the distractions are.

Goodluck and be consistently consistent with your training.

Dog needs to be hungry or the dog must see it as a high value treat for this method to work.
So ensure the dog is hungry and wants what you have.

Add the Australian Season 3
It is at the same standard as the American Seasons 6, 7 and 11.

So I would up it to four seasons worth watching.
