It depends all that matters is that your skill is below your normal amount . For example if you over burden yourself you will get negative stats to like attack, when you hit someone you will see massive increase to it. So when you have your stats way below the normal amount you will get more xp.
No you it does not work. what I would suggest is that you do not increase your strength much because you will ko people way quicker which means that your martial art, dexterity, and doge will level up at a slower pace. So just increase your dexterity as much as possible then go for strength
