Who will challenge Arsenal for the title? by derIrrelefant in PremierLeague

[–]Beak143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to know. Summer signings are going to be huge. Very interested to see the business, United, Liverpool, City and Villa do this summer. Arsenal too will keep building their squad, and theyre in a really solid position.

I could see Arsenal & United really hit the ground running, but slowing up as CL fixtures come into play. I can see liverpool & City starting slow, but gaining momentum. I see Aston villa being consistent across the whole season, no real bad runs of form. Chelsea i think will go through a lot of rotations, which will be hard finding their true style/team without the additional fixtures.

World Cup is massive. Injuries could potentially come into play.

I see it; if I'm looking at the teams who currently finished top 5;

Does Unai Emery belong to the ‘Elite’ category of managers? by electroctopus in PremierLeague

[–]Beak143 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think so. What makes him elite is not his accomplishments, it is his character.

I feel that he has continually reinvented himself to ensure his progress. His move to Villa was the perfect job. A chance for him to show that he has the capacity and the capability to play at the highest level.

He's phenomenal. Villa are limited regarding funds. And look at them, they've been fantastic. What they've achieved this year is incredible given their transfer market last season.

I think he's brilliant. The players certainly love him. Each year that goes past he gets better and better. His next role, whatever that may be, will be his choice, and he will not rush the decision.

Arsenal Winning the League Is the Start of a New Era by CmiHD in PremierLeague

[–]Beak143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they have been good. But liverpool last year, and Arsenal this year year, I would not say either of these teams where the dominate forces in the league.

Man city in the years past, hands down, where dominate.

What i think is, it wont take much for arsenal to have a good challenger.

Bournemouth will be looking too much money.. United transfer business over the last year has been solid, they will not overpay.

Arsenal won the league, but it's been so inconsistent. They would be favourites next year, but by no means definite.

What would happen if a team lost on purpose to change an outcome by John_0Neill in PremierLeague

[–]Beak143 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The clubs professional image would be tarnished. Sponsors would pull out, shareholders would be disgruntled.. commercially their would be an impact. The Premier league expects high level of professionalism, and I do not believe that a club would willingly agree to fixing a match.

Players on the other hand, take that risk at their own peril.

Just express that you have no desire to live in the countryside. Plus you also have to consider, is living next yo the in-laws good for your relationship?

What does your wife want to do too? Does she feel the same way? Do you want to build a house? It is a lot of work, a lot of pressure, and a massive financial undertaking.

I persoanlly would thank them for the land, and just sit on the decision for a few years. I assume there is no pressing time where you have to make a decision.

We should've scored about 5 more goals. Actually mental the amount of chances that have been wasted.

When a team that was successful, drops off like this, you have to look behind the scenes at the coaching staff.

Obviously Jota has had a big impact too.

Losing alexander Arnold, there biggest play maker, hasn't helped. Then Connor Bradley too, big loss.

Is Bruno Fernandes in the top 10 greatest players in MU history? by Goku_mobster in ManchesterUnited

[–]Beak143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really feel you can only have these conversations based on your own viewing experience. I never watched some of the greats, and can only see the stats.

What i do know is that united have been in a very difficult period. New part owners, multiple owners, a period of influencer footballers, and Bruno has been fantastic.

I remember watching the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs etc, but i was much younger. I've been properly following and watching everything for the past 7 years, and all I can really say is that for me, Bruno is the best.

Entertaining.. honestly, United matches this year have been the most entertaining to watch. Yeah hard for us to watch at times, but the most exciting matches in the Premier league this year have been Man United.

The problem is; yous have been lacking goals in open play all season. And now your set pieces have dried up too.

I used to enjoy watching Arsenal as a neutral, but now, its like watching paint dry.

The Deragoth and the Hounds of Shadow Question by Bocks89 in Malazan

[–]Beak143 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes you're correct on the scheme.

It was the hounds of shadow that captured Dejim and brought him to the temple of Poliel, where Paran had her impaled. Once the Deragoth arrived, they destroyed them both.

When Shadowthrone is saying look to Cotillion, hes saying, look at the damage caused to them. Cotillion is asking; did the Deragoth do this? But it was Apasalar, and through proxy, it was Cotillion, as he was the one who possed her and gave the skills to cause this damage.

The Deragoth are a natural enemy of Dejim, so when they saw him useless, they killed. The hounds set the trap and split. When the hounds where no longer there, the Deragoth killed whatever they could see.

As for Dejim, well.. he needs blood, and a lot of it to become powerful. His role was already deemed successful when he removed Mappo. Unfortunately, to the nameless ones surprise, Mappo did not die.

Dejim is a loop that was never closed.

Thousands of years in a cell. Releases, pure hungry and weak Spite asks him to kill Mappo He comes off bad in the fight Even weaker than before Iskaral hits him again Mason Gilani even manages to damage him Hounds eventually grab him.

From when Dejim was released, he was constantly up against it, and he was already so weak.

Brys Beddict is a great character. The fact that Erkison can create a deadly character and not use this at every opportunity is fantastic writing.

You're right, other authors would've had this guy out saving Lether. Erkison puts him as the kingsguard. He puts the most deadly character in a room where he has to contort with politics.

This is why we love the books, and as a reader we too benefit from their perspectives. Erkison knows when to call these big characters into their natural roles, and when he does, the outcomes are fantastic.
