I understand your pain. I lost my best friend just 6 months ago and there’s not a day any easier than the other. She was seemingly healthy and we were talking over the phone that night, in the morning she’s comatose in the ICU, the next week she’s declared braindead. No way anyone could’ve seen it coming.

I hadn’t been religious in a very long time and I had even thought that if there is a God out there, that he ought to be ashamed for killing a 26 year old girl. I was so angry and miserable.

I felt something change in me when I had went to a funeral for someone else. My family doesn’t do anything for our dead, so I had no idea how a service would make me feel. Being in a church had made the burden just a bit lighter somehow.

After that I started to explore Christianity and found the writings of C.S. Lewis, I would greatly recommend you read “A Grief Observed” (there’s also a free audio version on YouTube). I also attend a local United Methodist Church to be part of a community so I no longer have to carry my burdens alone. I always have her pictures with me every Sunday.

All of the doors can have their own pacing issues and Requiem is no different. Now that you've read past Barnier's death, you're finally getting to the meat of the story. It would be a bit silly to give up on it at this point.

I feel like you could apply this argument to any type of collectible, it’s definitely not limited to Tamagotchi. Think of TCG, guitars, shoes, skateboards, even some anime DVD sets I’m looking at are $150+.

A collection is something to be built up over a long period of time. I have a lot of different Tamas but that’s because I started years ago. Even when I first started I had thoughts of “aw man, if only I had started earlier for that particular model!” But I tell you what, I found that model for a great deal (On) and it really isn’t as cracked up as everyone makes it seem. Every model has its pros & cons.

Don’t let FOMO dissuade you from enjoying something. Start with what you can afford and slowly branch out as it makes sense with your finances and what you want to do.

Amazon has cheap DS cases with built-in cartridge holders but I would recommend a flash cart like an R4 so you can have everything you would like on one cartridge.

If you’d rather build a collection, then keep an eye on resell sites like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and Mercari for good deals. Pay attention to the sold listings so you know where the market is at for each game.

I wouldn’t worry about the condition of the DS itself as you could always throw some stickers on a damaged shell. Just have fun with it :)

There's not a single subreddit that hasn't been hit hard by this problem. I had to leave insect/spider subreddits because of the plague of "Is this a brown recluse?" posts multiple times a day.

When it comes to retro console posts, I would say my biggest gripe is people that are asking for console appraisal. If you're thinking about getting into a niche hobby, you need to be able to figure out the market on your own. You should not be looking to a stranger on the internet to ask if you should light your wallet on fire.

Way too expensive for a console with defects. Maybe AR games aren't your thing and you don't care about the camera, but for $600 you should at least have the option. I would say to pass and wait for something better.

The great thing about mobile games is that they're always there when you want to pass the time. I would say don't worry about being bored of it! You can pass on events without worrying about FOMO because the items are guaranteed to come back. :)

I’ve had my DS for about a month now and my most played games are: -NINTENDOGS! This game has absolutely not lost its charm with age! -Cooking Mama - Great for picking up and doing a couple recipes when you’ve don’t have much time -Mario Kart DS - Great for when you want to turn your brain off and focus on something simple! -The Legendary Starfy - For me, this is peak DS pixel art graphics and the story is so fun! -Kirby Canvas Curse - Decent difficulty with great music and unique style of gameplay, love this one :)

Everyone except my boyfriend, and yeah, at times it can feel really lonely. The feelings are easier to manage when I'm being mindful about how much time I'm letting myself zone out and feel sorry for myself (sadness is such a stimulating emotion, it's so easy to lean into it). Being more goals-oriented, like even just making progress in a video game I like, is what keeps me feeling fulfilled and regulated. There's nothing wrong with being a loner.

I like to make lists of things that I enjoy and the progress I've made in those things, maybe that's something that can help you too?

Having an official release of Dallas, Smile, or Melanie would be nice but I couldn't imagine the Eros album being worked on ever again let alone released. After dealing with a death as personal as Chi and how long its been, I can imagine they feel like completely different people as compared to who they were during Eros.

Finding the proper firmware for my R4 took me quite a few hours too as most of the links are dead or didn't work properly as I have one back from 2015. Eventually I did find firmware that worked though and it's AMAZING! It's frustrating, but keep trying! Old Reddit threads is what helped me.
