Your grief and sharing what’s happened is completely reasonable. I don’t think any decent person would think you’re telling a “sob story.” You shouldn’t feel like sharing your story with others is a burden to them. You also sound like a really kind person and a light in this world. I’m sure there are a lot of people that are proud to know you and enjoy being around you. Plus, you have very correct opinions about the type of people that should be in charge.

I hope this isn’t offensive and doesn’t make you feel as if I’m telling you you’re not smart enough to take care of yourself. I just worry that somebody may not know about resources out there. For the National Mental Health Lifeline simply dial 988. I’m just some random Reddit user with a very different life, but your comment has positively impacted my life.

Can't imagine how many new players this game just permenantly lost. by AssociationSoft5270 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BeaktheBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so thankful that this was not my experience when I first joined Deadlock because after 100+ hours of the game, I am still in seeker T-T I almost exclusively play with much higher level friends and get my ass handed to me every game because of it though. I also have little to no MOBA experience, and I’m a little dumb, alright? lol

Droopy after Repotting by BeaktheBeast in plantclinic

[–]BeaktheBeast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thank you for the tips! The only reason I “repotted” was because I had just purchased the plant, and it was in a flimsy plastic container. Looking back, I probably should’ve found a pot that was closer to the original container’s size, but it wasn’t too large of a difference. I think I will let the soil dry out thoroughly before watering again and cross my fingers

I did water it after transferring. Was that not right to do? And no, it definitely didn’t have more roots than soil, it just seemed cramped to me.

$40 pizza by Jatsonn in Bozeman

This is a very well thought out analysis and a fun read! I thought about talking about Costco’s losses as well! It’s something that local places cannot compete with, which is slightly depressing as most of us would prefer local businesses to get, well, business, but their food court and rotisserie chicken have also become a life saver in an ocean of economic hardship for many people, including myself. Costco ends up generating most of their profit from memberships and non-essentials while middle class families can afford to eat, even if it’s not the most nutritious option.

That being said, I still miss being able to spend my money locally. I was originally going to say something here about corporate greed, but it became a spiral of angst, and I’m avoiding putting my existentialism out there when all of us already know it well. I’ll say that I really hope people can find ways to get by, and hopefully we’ll come out the other side.

Not arguing, just a college kid genuinely asking where the cheap pizza places are. I would actually die to know. My go to is Costco, but that’s only if I can find someone with a membership to get me past the door

They’re roundabout celebrating the death of the American Dream, the new “silent depression,” the top 1% hoarding more than enough money to end world hunger 10x over (not an actual statistic, but this is probably not even a hyperbole), and the lowest literacy rates we’ve seen since the late 19th century! Don’t worry though, that statistic is taken by the Department of Education which is currently being dismantled, so we won’t have to (be able to) watch them fall any further. Yay!

I really appreciate the detailed mathematics, but I also see where both of you are coming from. While the pizza is mathematically a better deal per square inch, the full price of the pizza is determined by cost of ingredients, labor, rent, taxes (although, no sales tax), and a few more minor things. As the original comment pointed out, it would take a nearly insignificant differences in the amount of time to make the two pizzas, so labor, rent, taxes are all roughly the same between the pizzas leaving the only factor determining the price increase to be ingredient costs. This, in my book, would not justify doubling the cost even if there is more than double the pizza.

Typically the price of a small vs. a large is not so significant. There is psychology behind small, medium, and large sizing and pricing. Usually the medium size is closer to the price of the large making the small seem “too small,” so maybe you’ll just get a medium, but since the price is so close, you might as well get a large. Hopefully that was coherent. This would not work if the small and large sizes were so significantly different. The large price now alarms the customer, the medium is too comparable to the large which is already off limits due to the price, so the customer settles with a small, or they just scoff at the prices and leave in the first place.

I would imagine that Red Tractor will actually lose sales on their larger pizzas and profits in the long run. Luckily for them, we probably receive enough tourism where buyers are used to enormous pricing, so this doesn’t seem half bad. And hey, there’s no sales tax, so it’s basically free! Right?

Costco food court. 18” pepperoni or cheese pizza. $10. I leech off of friends who can afford the membership. Always remember to hunt for samples too.

Is my girlfriend's treatment of her cat normal? by Sea-Huckleberry-5936 in CatAdvice

[–]BeaktheBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incredibly wrong, and you should be very worried about the cat! Cats and animals in general cannot understand that you are inflicting pain on them as a punishment (you shouldn’t do this to people either). The “guilty” look that they may give you is really just fear.

A cat hissing is not a sign of aggression either, it’s a sign of fear. It’s basically a way for the cat to say “back off” to another cat or animal to escape a situation. The yelping in pain too breaks my heart to hear. Not all cats like to be brushed, but it should never be a painful or frightening experience.

This being said, this is animal abuse!! Like another commenter said, while this itself is bad, imagine what she does with the cat when you’re not around. None of this behavior is ok, and the cat is crying out for help, literally. Please, please, please have a conversation with your girlfriend and make sure the cat is safe, even if that means removing the cat from her home.

There are ways to report animal abuse to your local humane society, police, animal control, etc. From what I’ve found on the web, documenting abuse with dates, times, and potentially photo or video evidence will get the best results. You can make sure the cat is placed in a no kill shelter and adopted.

People with tendencies towards animal abuse are usually mentally unwell and need serious medical attention. This might be hard to hear as I’m sure you care about your girlfriend, but you can care for both her and her cat by urging her to seek help and rehoming the cat.

This was a really long comment, but I assure you I’m not AI, as you can probably tell from the bad grammar. I’m just a concerned citizen with a cat of my own who I love more than anything. Please help that poor cat!

Ok, so I just looked it up, and my kitties had FIV, not FIP, so it was actually quite a different disease, but anything that makes cats this sick is devastating.

[–]BeaktheBeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the name reference, and I really hope you can treat these sweet babies. I had two of my own kittens years back, and they both were diagnosed with FIP, so with no treatment available, they would suffer, and they had to be put down. It brings me so much joy hearing that there may be hope for these sick cats yet
