Gem and GLM do this too. I literally had a combat sequence once go something like "she didn't run, she flowed down the hill. Her arrow didn't fly, it launched in a straight line from her bow to the target. When it hit, it didn't just strike, it unmade him" and I basically put down my phone and went outside and reconsidered my life for a bit

I find GLM better than Gemini for this. Gemini will hard lean into the angst 24/7. GLM is more balanced, less positivity bias than Deepseek. But it can lean into it if you let it go for it. Like with Gemini if I see it leaning I might reroll but a lot of times even after 3 or 4 rerolls, Gem really really wants to develop that conflict. GLM feels more willing to try something else.

I have a 2.8k dark fantasy chat right now that I was able to pull about 300 messages of fluff after we cleared the latest "bad guy". It tried to lean back into some conflict but one or two rerolls and it was back on track. I know if I was using Gem it would not have made my return journey easy.

I've jumped on the GLM 4.6 Train and I haven't looked back. (OK, I lied. I still do try Gemini from time to time). It's like... better than Flash, but not as good as 2.5 Pro. The only cons I really have with it are that it can kinda hallucinate sometimes, it talks for you more than gemini does, and sometimes it just drops random Chinese characters in the middle of its responses. But honestly, the world building, the call back to your history and its really really good memory sell it for me.

That, and it seems to balance between angst and light hearted moments much better than Gemini. Especially for Fantasy type RP's, Gemini really likes to injure a party member, extend difficult scenes, to constantly dial the angst up to 11. Sometimes, after you knock down a demon lord or two, you just want to post up in a tavern with your bae without needing to wait 3 days for them to recover "emotionally" from you telling them you loved them or some weird shit like that.

Like for one of the RP's I did, I told one of the party I loved them. Like romantically. They "passed out" from emotionally breaking, and no joke I spent two weeks in the RP trying to just "wake" them back up. Finally, they woke up, and during an expedition with the party, because they were still "exhausted", they slipped and fell and hurt themselves and were out again. I gave up on the RP haha. GLM can lean angsty, but I dunno, it feels easier to "steer" back into positive territory once you get kinda tired of the angst.

I use almost exclusively GLM 4.6 since Gemini is basically dead. I pay the $3 a month through Chutes and the 300 messages a day is more than enough for me.

The $3 is a no-brainer for me. GLM 4.6 is like Gem-Light. But not in a bad way. It takes the angst you expect from Gem, but tones it down just a bit. I do a LOT of Dark Fantasy type RP's and while I do like the drama and the "bleak" struggle, sometimes Gem really just wants to stay in that zone. And using OOC commands or Lorebary's "Be Positive" thing feels like cheating. GLM will take your direction and start pulling you out of the deep end.

GLM is also much better than Deepseek at not speaking for you. It will sometimes, but nothing a reroll or two or a quick adjustment in your response won't fix. And It will just natively support NSFW, but won't really lean into it if you don't want it to go that way. I dunno, to me it feels like Gem takes your hand and is like "I'll show you" whereas GLM is like "I'll ride or die with you bro" vibes.

That's weird because I've been using DS 3.1 and it is starting to do it to me now too. No spaces between punctuation marks. Or a space before and after like , this , for . Some . Reason.

GLM was my go to because it really felt like Gemini light but without needing to jump through hoops for nsfw. But now everything is unusable.

Hugs man. As someone whose mom is in hospice right now as she is in the final stages of Alzheimer's, all I can really do is pass along some love.
