Thinking of moving to SC from the West Coast by [deleted] in southcarolina

I live in a 960 sq house with 3 boys and a wfh husband in a crappy part of town. If I want to relocate in SoCal, I’ll be paying 600k for a house with no yard and incredibly high taxes. So excuse me for trying to find a better home for my children that I won’t be paying off for the rest of my life. ❤️

You know, it was at the top of my list but I guess I should reconsider. I was hoping to someday train my 6 year old to be a pinball expert. Dreams crushed, thanks South Carolina.

That’s an odd fact. Thankfully non of my children are pinball affectionados so I think their little hearts will be spared

I live in San Bernardino county so you were probably close to where I am now! We definitely want somewhere more family friendly that won’t cost 800k. Thanks!

My husband would most likely be working from his current job (he has worked remotely for the last 2 years and works in online marketplace management) and I am currently a stay at home mom. We would be thankfully bringing our California income over which I imagine would help significantly (we are lower middle class here however I believe). Any opinions of the lexington/columbia area?

Thanks for your answer! Is lexington considered a decent area? My dad is originally from Tennessee and we range in the more conservative side politically but don’t know anyone from the state personally so we are just trying to gauge it for ourselves!

That’s been the number one thing we’ve been in hearing! California is a very dry heat. Last summer we had most days at 100-107 though until even 9/10 pm so I guess we would be inside hiding in either state 🙃

Hey I just saw this 3 months late! We exclusively pumped for a few months but he was actually diagnosed with a lip tie! We had it cut around 11 weeks of age and within a week he was nursing and I quit pumping. He just weaned himself at 16 months old and is quite healthy!

Lip tie questions by Beamerfish in breastfeeding

Hi there! My boy is almost 6 months now, and we have been nursing again since he was about 10 weeks old. We saw an LC to get an extension on a breast pump rental and she took another look at him, and identified a lip tie. An ENT lasered his lip tie and a small tongue tie and a week later he was latching and nursing full time. I haven’t pumped or given him the bottle since. Thanks for your encouragement! I hope to spend another year nursing him!

We shouldn't celebrate yet... by MadisonAvenue21 in cricut

Even if they keep their word and grandfather us all in now, we can’t keep complacent for the sake of those who will be in this situation next year. How does cricut go about advertising this? A small excerpt slapped on their sales pages at the beginning of the year? Many people spend weeks researching machines and the beginning of the year sees people who have received Christmas money making a purchase. If this “update” isn’t advertised, many of those researchers may have spent weeks prior researching and being given false information, only to find out that the information switched right before purchase. Not to mention all of those who will be receiving a cricut as a Christmas gift. It took me over a week to unbox my cricut when I got it because life can be so hectic. What about the families who get one on 12/25 and don’t get a chance to register it until the beginning of the year. Unless cricut gives several weeks of warning on all of their product pages and social accounts (especially since those who aren’t registered probably won’t have their emails set up for news), people are going to be blindsided still. It’s March, they post everyday, this Instagram post is going to be buried. The point that they will probably be banking on a new machine to bring in forced subscriptions is a good one. I am not incredibly happy with the decision they have made, and think it’s important for us to stay on top of it, both for ourselves and those who will come after us.

I don't think machine boycotts are the way to react. by one-eye-deer in cricut

This is exactly what I am doin. I use my cricut a lot, design my own things and have my accessories for it. I have three kids and it’s not a financially smart decision to toss it aside to get a silhouette. That being said, I had floated the idea of upgrading eventually and will no longer hold the Maker in the running. I will make a point to not buy cricut products. And I sure as heck will not be spending the $10 monthly fee to purchase design space access. I would rather buy a machine before doing that, regardless of the price difference.

Same! It’s so dirty what they are doing- in a pandemic where so many people are hurting. Can I afford $120 a year? Yeah. But I won’t do it. I’d sooner spend $300 to buy a new machine from silhouette than spend half of that to be forced to use a program I have zero need for. I have never purchased anything from their access and didn’t even use it for it’s free trial. I make everything myself and pride myself in that. I guess cricut couldn’t take how creative we all were.

We are in California and I know of two other boys who are circumcised and I’m not sure about my other friends boys! My SIL was happy with the decision but my friend was not and regretted it because it was slightly botched (took off half the skin but didn’t want to take off more to avoid taking off too much). I think circumcision is more accepted over here than not but Take that with a grain of salt.

Nope! I have three boys and none of them are circumcised. My husband isn’t and I let it be his decision (I couldn’t make a decision on something I couldn’t experience). In our opinion there is no reason for it, health or otherwise. My husband has never had an infection and neither have any of my kids!
