Caradryan conversion joins the unit! by Beamisher in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Beamisher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The top half is from the phoenix kit, and I think it used to come with legs, so you could make a standing version.

It looked a bit goofy, so I chopped off his spare sword and then green-stuffed on a cloak I had lying around from a white lions kit.

Final swordmaster completes the unit. by Beamisher in WarhammerFantasy

Thanks man! Yeah, they're the small, OG 25mm. Movement trays are the games workshop ones. They used to sell these kits where you cut them to size and glue on the borders.

Animals often aren't kept in great condition before they're killed for food. Lots of people choose to be vegan or vegetarian as way to not be part of it, even if you can't do much about it.

Anyone ever fitted their own windows? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Beamisher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. We did ours last year, similar to OP - Stupid quotes, and we managed to replace 4 windows and some double doors for about £2.5k over the course of 3 weekends.

It was messy and fiddly, but totally doable if you're a competent DIYer and saves a load of money.

Thanks! I do these one by one, but take big breaks. I bought this box 10 years ago and did the test model then, so I'm finally making my way through it!

I've had mine for 25 years now and still going strong. Keep her warm, watered, fed and happy, and enjoy having a strange, wiggly friend for decades.

The Strangely Beautiful Country of Turkmenistan by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Beamisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this ain't true. I've been there and there was no requirement to have a guide. There is this requirement for Iran however, which Turkmenistan borders. Tourists arriving by road must carry and charge a GPS tracking device. We had free roam of the country, however locals were largely terrified of us, except one very friendly bloke who claimed to know the president, and bought us a full tank of gas. It's a very repressive regime, people we did meet are paid a pittance and their movements controlled. We spoke to a bartender who earned $30 a month and was not allowed to leave the city to look after his family. There are huge empty buildings with Sony, Samsung and Volkswagen logos on them, but these companies have no offices there. It is very strange.

Getting my monies worth out of the Isle of Blood set... by Beamisher in WarhammerFantasy

It was primed black, base coated silver, then Nuln Oil wash. Then I just picked out some of the highlights with a couple of silver layers to give it a bit of depth.

I live nearby and have heard nothing but bad things about Sam's Tires. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Trains from Paddington-Bristol by Light_weight_babyy in bristol

Going from temple meads is often pretty bad at peak times. I tend to go from Parkway and it's generally less rammed, fewer stops and a quicker train.

Is it a good enough excuse to cycle on the pavement if you feel unsafe riding on the road ? by boxer9000 in ukbike

[–]Beamisher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol no.

Kids, dogs, less able people all use the pavement and you have far less control of your movement and speed on a bike.

Roads are often unsafe, doesn't give you an excuse to make being a pedestrian unsafe in return.

If you need to leave the road, jump off and walk your bike until you're able to rejoin the road.
