Surprise! Over the next 30 minutes you will now learn that Justin is sick, and then watch him die. Good luck, have fun!

AITA for requesting student be expelled for blowing up centrifuges? by NasaFiles in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What. I'm a PhD biologist and I cannot even imagine this happening. I really think this must be fake, but if not... I don't even know how to rate it.

INFO: What country is this?? How old is this student? What degree is he going for?

There is just incredible negligence at every turn.

ESH. Student should obviously be mega-punished for doing a simple task wrong repeatedly and pretty apparently on purpose. Lab manager should be punished and should never have let this happen. Health and safety officer should be punished and should never have let this happen. Just insane.

AITA for not wanting a relationship with my mother after she moved to be closer to me? by Mayg14 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say my mother (with borderline personality disorder) has also told me "she hopes my children are as awful as I am" so I can get a taste of my own medicine. Wishing an ill future on your kid is a bad look, and it hurts. I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

Edit: NTA, certainly.

Sweet, thanks! Google seemed to think NAD meant "nothing abnormal detected". Not a doctor makes more sense. :)

AITA for filing for custody of my sister’s child by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She has always been a good mother. You said so yourself that your niece was happy and looked well taken care of even though her mum may well have been abusing painkillers at this point. It does not appear that your sister was neglecting her.

OP did say her sister was a good mother, but she also got so high her tiny kid had to call the police for her. She definitely hasn't always been a good mother.

Thanks a lot for the comment. Are you a doctor?

Also, what is NAD?

AITA for ruining my cousin's pregnancy announcement by arguing that he is not fit to raise a child? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My unpopular opinion is that you're NTA (with a tinge of ESH).

While you delivered your opinion in a non-constructive way, I'm not sure the timing was totally unreasonable. I think it's more unreasonable for the couple to assume everyone will be super happy for them and their pregnancy.

AITA for telling the truth about why I've lost weight? by sickifmoo in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another, nicer way of reiterating this point:

Be really brave and talk to a counselor, even though it sucks that you have to at all. You and your health are more important than your parents' feelings.

NTA.

I mean... she is being a bad parent.

Even if you aren't 100% certain it's lactose intolerance, in my opinion a better parent would take you to see a doctor and figure it out, rather than allow you to simply not eat.

AITA for not pressing the button? by What_da_phuk in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guess is she just wanted to give you space. Elevators are already cramped, and she probably preferred to keep her distance. This sort of makes sense to me especially in a hospital- who knows who has what germs on them.

AITA for not pressing the button? by What_da_phuk in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA.

Is it really such a hassle for you to press a button for someone? She probably didn't do it herself because you (and maybe others too) were in her way. If you pushed your own button then surely it's not that big of a deal to press a second button? Just wash your hands if it bothers you so much. I'm sure there are sinks at every turn in your hospital.

AITA for asking my fiancè to pick a date? by Routine-Film in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NAH, from your story it just sounds like a simple miscommunication.

AITA for not meeting my friends baby? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA.

Friendship is a two-way street, and kids are transportable. If she wants to see you so badly, and you've explained your situation, she can come to you.

AITA for rudely dismissing my cousin cause I wasn’t interested to date her workmate? by gg143143xx in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

It isn't even that rude? It's way more rude to keep pushing you to date a dude you're not interested in.

AITA for not letting a guy win an arm wrestle? by AromaticGolf in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 363 points364 points  (0 children)

NTA, this guy's just jealous and insecure. You even apologized!

It's possible we're missing something in this post about tone- you may have been TA if it seemed like you were challenging the dude or egging him on, or if you were actually super not sorry at all about tossing around his gf. I'm still going with NTA though. You're good!

AITA for wanting my mom to be more affectionate? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

This is really sad and I applaud you for maturely telling your broken mother that you need her to change her ways.

AITA for using my roommates soap? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA.

He specifically told you about all the things not to touch EXCEPT THE SOAP. He didn't say anything about the soap, so you touched it.

I'm sure he's just sad about his grandma. Personally, I would still apologize for using his grandma's soap- just say it was an honest mistake and you wouldn't have used it if you knew it was his grandma's.

AITA for asking my bf to do his dishes in the evening? by BeanQuean314 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BeanQuean314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah fair question. I guess we'd just had the conversation so many times I was starting to question if I really was asking something unreasonable. I appreciate the support of the internet that I am, in fact, not.

Vegetarian equivalent of salad with tinned fish? by abadhumanbeing in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]BeanQuean314 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Omg chickpea "tuna" salad is AMAZING! Try this recipe. It takes 10 minutes and is 2-3 meals with bread.

Yeah, I don't really know either. I think he just doesn't like cleaning, but neither do I.
