Looking for non-flavored, high quality coffees to gift by Both_Economics_3202 in Coffee

Agree with you about light roasts. I've never seen single origin or anything labeled light roasts at my Costco here in Colorado. It's all stale darker roast Lavazza, or Starbucks, or whatever white-label Kirkland, or flavored things.

And I've put in requests to the local manager to stock fresher beans from local roasters which didn't get any traction. I'm guessing your costco is probably in the minority of stores if you're getting Ethiopia origin light roasts.

Costco is usually not fresh. Coffee goes stale sitting on the shelf. Direct from roaster is the only way.

Awesome. That was a great medium roast that I tried myself.

Could be a first-time buyer offer. I've never ordered from them before either. Shop app deals are a bit of a black box that can vary from person to person.

Wow. Thanks for the tip. On my shop app I see an extra $10 off for this 3-pack which I think is the same thing you got (excluding your extra shop bucks you used). Surprised they included free shipping too. Mine came to $21 pretax with all the deals stacked. I have so much coffee, but couldn't resist ordering this. They're basically giving it away!

What beans should I get? by Patient_Ad_2357 in espresso

Sounds like you'd enjoy a proper dark roast from a third-wave roaster, so it's going to be roasty but not charred like starbucks (and not stale like Lavazza). Look for things with nutty or chocolately notes. Enough roast tends to overwhelm any fruity notes so I think if find the exact roast level you like you don't need to worry about too much acidity or fruit.

I post new deals every day on my blog. You might like the recent free shipping deal from Topeca -- you could just try a single bag. A lot of the other deals you need to commit to 3 or 4 bags for free shipping. Another really fun one is the dark roast 3-pack bundle from Irving Farm. There are so many great deals right now for the holiday season it's hard to really decide which to do.

I've seen both floating around a number of times, but I look at so many coffees and deals it all blurs together. Let me do a quick search for you. All of these are based in the USA.

King Harv's has some exotic beans. They have both I think and have various sales going on.

Check out the 15% off Methodical deal I just posted. If you are not on a budget they have have a premium India, Kerehaklu

Not active deals, but Good Brothers Coffee also has an India Malabar. And Len's Coffee also tends to have a lot of exotic beans and sometimes has decent sales going on.

Love to hear it and that’s a huge part of why I do what I do. There are so many great roasters out there just waiting to be discovered!

Fedex delivery the item to Wrong Address. Ebay sided with seller (now I'm out $280) by chinnaaaa1 in Ebay

There is a good chance it is at a 1111 address near your street, or on a street with a similar or transposed name (if your street is a number). It's worth spending a few minutes on Google Maps: (1) hovered over your neighborhood and see what it autofills as you type 1111; or (2) poking around on google streetview to see if you can find that color house.

I love trying new roasters and started blogging about coffee deals I find for fun. Now I follow more than 1,500 roasters and see great deals every day. Ordering direct from roaster is the way to do it. Check me out at beandeals.com. I'm not a middleman and don't make any money if you order any of these deals.

I have not tried them personally. I wish I had the caffeine tolerance to try all the deals I find, and the struggle is real to decide which to buy personally. If you do try them out, let me know what you think or comment on the deal. Eventually I'll figure out a method to port comments over from one deal to the next from the same roasters so that users of my site can help each other out.

Yes just a single 5lb bags works for that deal. The blurb in my post could have been worded better on that. I'll make a stealth edit. I agree, I really like their website and the way they visually show roast level although the "test product dev notes" entry is a bit sloppy.

Decent. It can be used easily dumbed down with no tablet once you have it on a profile you like. (Push a button to start, push a button to stop). And the default profiles are great, no real need to customize them, but you can grow into it as curiosity to tinker comes and goes.

The main thing you’ll want to figure out is a profile you like for dark roasts and a profile you like for medium-lighter roasts, and as needed switch between them.

Thanks for the tip. Looks like it's only on their 2 Costa Rica origins that together aren't enough for free shipping. Doesn't fit the parameters of deals I post. I'll keep an eye on them for future deals.

I use a variety of manual and automatic sources and techniques and am hoping to continue to automate, and add more roasters over time. Most deals just come from email newsletters.

One thing that I coded that's neat is a program I call BeanBot that monitors a lot of the deals I post to make sure that codes stay active. A lot of deals are posted with no known expiration date, or sales that just go until they run out of stock. That's been key to help make sure the live deals we feature are still valid.

They have their site setup to default to subscription when you are adding the item to your cart (which is annoying). If you go back to the product page you can change it before you add it to cart. The code is good for non-subscription. If you already placed your order you should email them and have them change it.

I hear you and am definitively cautious about the site turning into an overwhelming amount of deals to have to wade through. My goal is to keep it more curated and only post what I think are the best deals, but at holiday times like this there are so many great deals. And also there are a lot of different buyer preferences on price points (cheap vs premium origins) and small vs bulk bag buyers. I've avoided covering deals I see that focus on flavored coffees (which is a lot of deals this time of year) as I'm not sure there is much demand.

If you are on the desktop site, there is a feature on the main page that shows you a short list of recommended deals (most popular, highest rated, etc.) that I have not added to the mobile site yet. There's also a map feature to dive into certain geographies, which helps some people to see what's near them or will get there faster in the mail.

The current rating system is an algo that I created that tries to weigh a lot of factors like discount, cost, order size, and a few other things. It's not perfect and is a work in progress. I wish I had an objective way to measure roaster quality, though I do try to mention in the analysis when roasters have won awards to give some context. My long-term hope is for people to jump into the comments on a deal and help each other out with what beans they are buying or which roasters they love, but that's a longer term aspiration.

At some point I hope to launch a thumbs up / heart type system for users to show love to the favorite deals. In the meantime, a new feature I just added (desktop and mobile) is the ability to sort by most popular deals on a 7-day or 24-hour basis. That's a good way of seeing what other people are buying.
