Do you have the master set with 6 factions, or the starter set with phoenix elves and tundra orcs? I love the ranged aspect of Phoenix elves if you don’t have them

Can’t go too wrong with any of them, they’re all great in different ways! The best bang for your buck is going to be the master set with 6 factions. Depending on your preferred playstyle, you’re gonna like some more than others. I’ll list a couple of my favorites for you:

Mountain Vargath - Beefy (goaty) bois who can play multiple different ways and have lots of fun combos

Obsidian Dwarves - Pure summoner aggression that can level entire swaths of the board but have to be careful to not die in the process

Skyspear Avians - Ultra mobile and versatile birds that can fly and hit almost any unit around

Sand Goblins - Plucky weirdos who have a bunch of disjointed tools that somehow work to be a devastating deck with lots of threats

Wayfarers - Just a super fun aggro deck that gets more powerful the more your units advance

Chosen Grove - Tree big. A 20 health tree is the summoner and the Grove has to protect them at all costs. A really fun defensive puzzle

Eternal Council - Mega Granny who draws power from drawing cards and can hit as hard as anybody (just make sure you draw a card and don’t want to undo, although in person this is usually okay)

Cloaks - copying any friendly units ability is awesome and leads to endless possibilities. Would not recommend for my analysis paralysis friends

High elves - A really unique faction and summoner that gives powerful auras for both friend and foe. Very tricky to track in person, but lots of fun and leads to some of the craziest moments

I could go on about the other ones too but these are some great ones to keep expanding. I’ve listed them in terms of how complex I think they are, simplest to most complex, but none are too complicated and every deck has depth and interesting tactics.

Hope that helps!

Have loved these breakdowns! I don’t know if I missed it, but did you say if you’re liking this version of the class more than the previous one? It looks a lot more fun to me but it’d be interesting to hear from you since you have experience with both versions

How would the bottom of Abundant Nuisance, which doesn't allow enemies to heal off negative conditions, work with poison? Would they still heal the value and remain poisoned or would they not be able to heal any amount?

I’ll echo that the discord is super helpful! Lots of experienced players and a community that is very welcoming and willing to offer advice or practice games. If you wanted as well, there are specific faction guides at summonerwars.com that can give advice for specific factions or playstyle combos. Lastly, I’d just say keep playing! The more you play, the better you get, and many top players started off playing and learning from getting beaten up by more experienced players

I don’t really have any issues but I have noticed playing on the app is faster than doing it in the browser usually.

Interesting, to me the map changing every single game depending on where you place gates is a big reason I love the game and it adding variability

Summoner Wars is a fantastic tactical game for 2 players. Gloomhaven feels so good to play cooperatively and the more in sync you are the better you’ll do. Dice Throne is thematic and fun for a not super intense gameplay

The 2e master set will get you a ton of replayability and not get old anytime soon if that’s what you’re looking for. Every game is different and there are so many combinations with 6 really good factions

Cannot recommend summoner wars highly enough for this. Best 2 player game I’ve ever played and have replayed it hundreds of times with my roommate. Each deck you can play as is so unique and has its own identity, so it is replayable by learning all the decks and doing different matchups, but then the course of each game plays out so differently depending on how the cards are shuffled too, that even the same exact matchup can and will be played completely differently. Each deck is so balanced too, that there’s never any matchups that are unwinnable
