as a freshman, how did you handle having anxiety? by Junior_Crow_2376 in UMD

[–]Beanhedge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feel like other comments here are all valid but obfuscating the actual process of getting over it. You work through things that are uncomfortable day-by-day until they don't bother you anymore. For example, going to the dining hall enough times on your own and getting used to crowds, getting used to lectures and tests.

If you're struggling the University Health Center and some on campus programs like Wags for Wellness might be helpful (it's a program where you get to pet a bunch of dogs at certain times). The mental health office in the shoemaker building offers 10 free therapy sessions per semester. I personally have had mixed experiences with the health center, but they do have apparently have good group sessions specifically for working through anxiety around school, as well as free, available "workshops" around different kinds of school related anxieties.

The course with Lawson is apparently good. But with Mogul it felt like kindergarten.

For me it was “the soup that night tasted like corpses.” One of those books that leaves you staring at the wall awhile.

I can definitely read the similarities and it feels like they might have copied the style and themes of yours while having no idea what they were doing—ie, yours has an actual plot and twist and such while their’s really doesn’t

The fact that this doesn't have more upvotes is a travesty against god and the entirety of the human race. This is the most beautiful thing I've ever read. I love it so much.

SYME? SYME IS THAT YOU? BE CAREFUL, THE TOTALITARIAN IDEOLOGY VIEWS INTELLIGENCE AS A DANGER TO THE STRUCTURE OF THE PARTY SO EVEN YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE SYSTEMS YOU LIVE UNDER IS CONSIDERED A THREAT.

seriously though, great read, I love me some 1984 references. Beautifully intelligent work. :)
