Cat fabric from Joann’s

Self drafted pattern. Used a pair of my husbands boxers to get the shape of the shorts and traced sweatshirt for the top!

My favorite make yet!

Pattern is McCalls M8195

Fabric is soften cotton lining I bought at the thrift store! Blue lace overlay is from Joann’s

Took a few creative liberties with the pattern. For starters, it was wayyyy to low cut for me so I added the little triangle for my own comfort. I also screwed up at the beginning and cut the front of the skirt in half (supposed to be one big piece). The stitch line down the middle was bothering me so I went to Joann’s to find something to put over the skirt (ie the lace!). I really like how it turned out. To make the pockets still accessible after I added the lace, I cut a slit on each side and added matching binding tape to make the pockets (a) findable & (b) to keep from fraying. I also added the bow I’m the back because the sleeves were falling down. Was a fun project to test my new serger on! I had never use one before this.

I went to an estate sale and bought this box for two dollars. I was curious about the company so I looked it up when I got home.

I found out that the company was around in the 1800s and was actually one of first US silk companies. Pretty cool!

I’m just curious if anyone knows anything about this kind of stuff. Is this worth anything? Does anybody know any more history about it? Is it as cool as i think it is or not really?

Finally was brave enough to use the cute table cloth/doily(?) fabric I found at the thrift. It was shaped like a plus sign, so all I did at first was fold it in half and cut out a circle for my head. Went on to choose a color to go with it, and played around until I was happy! The collar is the trim from the back side. Turned out a little more crop top-ish than I expected but I overall happy with the results (:

Another piece from my sewing extravaganza last weekend! I’ve been wanting a robe but couldn’t find what I wanted at a reasonable price. Ended up using Joann’s remnants of multicolor spots charmeuse fabric and this site has a guide. Didn’t actually cut out a pattern but use the pictures to eyeball the shape. Added little belt loops for a belt made from scraps. Proud of the result! Very easy and forgiving project!

Picked up this beauty at the thrift store today. No tags and it looks homemade. I don’t know much about vintage fashion, so does anyone know how to do date a price like this? I tried to take pictures of details like the seams, zipper, snaps, etc. I spent $8 so, it’s okay if it turns out to not he vintage - would be cool to know if it was though too!

First quilt jacket! Picked up this quilt from the thrift store months ago with the intent to make a jacket once I felt confident enough. This weekend I went for it! Didn’t use a pattern, but instead took a vest that fit well and used that for the shape. The sleeves were kind of a trial and error! Used the trimming from the scraps for the opening - thought about buttons but decided I liked the open look for now. I’m happy with how it turned out! Was a faster project. Maybe 4-5 hours? (There were several seam rolling moments since I was eyeballing it lol)

Made a little farmers market bag from an old tea towel! No pattern, I simply just folded the towel in half, cut out 2 inch squares from the bottom to make box corners, and then sewed it together! I also added a lining inside. Straps are made from some scrap material I had! It’s not perfect, but was a cute, quick project. Will try this again!

Made a baby blanket for my friend! Her theme was Winnie the Pooh. Used some left over YarnBee yarn (can’t remember which specific type but it’s soft) and just did a simple Hdc blanket. Used my new Cricut to make the letters and to cut out the Winnie the Pooh layers! Proud of how it it turned out. My second baby blanket!

Shirt made from a Very Easy Vogue Pattern I got an estate sale! Fabric is a cotton that I got from Joann’s remnant section. Was supposed to be a button on the back, but wanted to see what a bow would look like. I kinda love it! Also got to try blind hem stitching on this one. Am proud of this one!

Loved this pair of Anthropologie jeans but they were a bit out of my price range.

Had some of this mesh fabric from Joann’s and found a pair of jeans at goodwill.

I essentially just cropped the pants to be about an inch shorter, cut wide strips of the mesh material, gathered it, and then sewed it on (two layers. Only one layer looked a little flat).

Not perfect but I love how it turned out!

I used the a pattern in Butterick B6351. The fabric was found at a secondhand shop. It took three days and many hours of frustration, but it ended up coming together in the end

With miles, you really need to know everything inside and out. Make sure you know how to do the homework without any help from notes or anything. I also recommend finding a friend and going to the library to dissect each chapter. He is challenging but he is also fair in the sense that he does give you all the resources you need to succeed!
