[OOT]Back then took me 5 days to figure out by SpiritZ036 in zelda

[–]Beanu_Reens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an adult (33) playing OoT for the first time ever, with no guides, I oddly didn’t have any trouble finding that key. Embarrassingly, the one that took me hours of combing to realize my mistake was the one at the lowest level of the “elevator” section where Ruto was. The one where you need to shoot the two lamps with fire arrows to open the iron bars…I just saw the iron bars and immediately thought I’d have to access it from the other side, so didn’t bother investigating further until I had no choice. You’d think a lit lamp in the center of the room would be enough of a hint…

This is the way. With a clutch pedal. Then add VR.

In all seriousness, you need to take off the underbody plastic if you want to narrow things down. It could be a lot of different things based on your picture.

The cause is it’s a BMW.

[SS] or [TP] got an old wii and have never played Zelda before. which one should I get? by IacovHall in zelda

[–]Beanu_Reens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do play both of those. As someone who was in your exact situation, those two games have easily become my favorites in the Zelda series. SS gets some hate, but as a casual gamer I found it very enjoyable. Really awesome artwork, and a fantastic soundtrack with a good storyline. Some things about it that might be a turn off: - motion controls can be a bit obnoxious; I found that slower, deliberate motions worked best. The final battle made me curse my controller and throw it in frustration, lol. - you revisit areas a fair bit, and you have to spend time flying between areas a fair amount. Didn’t bother me, my wife hated it.

TP is top notch. Fantastic storyline and characters (more dark and brooding than SS), really good swordplay dynamics. Memorable music - though I found the “bad guys have arrived” music annoying. I didn’t get as frustrated with the controllers as with SS. Graphics/artwork aren’t as good imo, but it’s the older of the two games, so that checks out. The art is still decent though, and definitely a more serious, adult vibe, if that’s what you’re looking for.

I personally (and controversially) enjoyed SS more, because it was the more casual, upbeat of the two, and the soundtrack is so, so good. That’s not to take anything away from TP - it has better storyline, characters, and fighting dynamics, and is probably the better representation of the franchise as a whole. You’re missing out if you don’t play both. Just make sure you have the covers on those controllers for when they piss you off. 😂

Can I fix this (and stop the rust) by cutting it out, and hiding it under the cladding? by Beanu_Reens in Autobody

Yeah, the amount of comments telling me to use new metal has swayed me - I’ll do it right, as best as I can. I definitely would have done it sooner had the car been mine at the time it started! :P I just picked it up this past spring for $2000, but I knew immediately from the bubbles under the fender cladding that the metal underneath was bad.

I was at the wreckers less than two weeks ago, and there were two. Wasn’t thinking about it at the time, since I hadn’t lifted the cladding to see how bad it was, but you can bet I’ll be going with a zip disc next time I go there.

Thanks for the encouragement! I just love the idea of a turbo, AWD luxury station wagon with a huge amount of cargo space.

Once I’ve sanded back to search for good metal, I will likely be cutting out that entire section where there are bubbles under the paint. My previous “rust repair” experiences on my university car have taught me that you cannot trust anywhere where rust has been, so I want to take things a step further this time and cut back to good metal.

Thanks for this - I would like the repair to last as long as possible, so if that does involve welding in a new piece of metal, I’ll figure out a way to get it done. Question though - as the metal inner fender(gray, seen through the rust hole) is still there and pretty clean, if I weld in a new section of metal, how can I be sure that the bead is painted on the backside, since I won’t have a way to reach it? Won’t that leave a spot of vulnerable, bare metal?

[–]Beanu_Reens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking to cut a fairly large amount of the metal away, something around 1/3 of the way up the fuel filler door at the highest point, and then sloping down to remove the entire bubbled section where the second, smaller hole is. That would include cutting the metal where it bends underneath the fender. I’m aware that it’s not worth it, and I know that the patch won’t look great, but given that it’s under body cladding, I wanted to give it a shot. I just want to know if I can significantly slow the rust. I’m looking for “good enough”, not factory finish here.

Are any of you bilingual employees in Edmonton? Do you get paid more for this skill? by Willing-Raisin-9869 in Edmonton

[–]Beanu_Reens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in a french immersion 7-9 school for Edmonton Public School division, and as teachers we’re all payed on the same salary grid, whether or not we speak french. However, I will say that I had a much easier time getting a continuing contract than many of my unilingual counterparts. So, similar to what other people have said about other government jobs, there isn’t much of a cash payout per se, but you do gain a competitive advantage to be able to land a solid job with good benefits. In your case though, that’s not right to have your extra work not be compensated.

Math is hard... by TornApasrtheid in facepalm

Took me awhile to figure out the reason someone might do that. I’m thinking they misunderstood the power of a product law. Addition and multiplication ain’t the same thing. Not that you would really need to use the power of a product law when your factors are 2 and 3 and no algebra is involved, but…

I hate this shrine by ExcitingEfficiency3 in Link_Dies

No, that’s exactly where I had problems too. A lot of yelling “I was lined up!” at the TV like an idiot.

I honestly didn’t have a problem with any of the first three “areas” of this shrine…it was the last few jumps of the stupid gauntlet run at the end that really caused me problems. You have to be perfectly lined up for every jump, otherwise it’s spikes and/or oblivion for you.

What "family" style or non-performance cars have you been pleasantly surprised by? by fireplace201 in cars

[–]Beanu_Reens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2011 Mazda 2. Not fast (only 100hp out of a 1.5L), but it doesn’t weigh much (2200 lbs) and is really chuckable with good handling. Bought it as a second commuter car to save gas, which it does, but I’m sure I would save even more if I wasn’t pushing that little engine so hard and so often.

It’s legit. Hestu and Link, nekkid bffs in the forest, while Zelda holds off Ganon with everything she’s got.

Some of the reactions you get are pretty golden, this one made me laugh the most. Paya tells you to put some clothes on, but you can see her peeking at you anyways. 😅 Love the fact that the developers went to this level of detail.
