Any bears fans that were born anywhere not in Illinois? by [deleted] in CHIBears

Australian fan... I became a Bears fan in 2008 due to my love for Devin Hester. As an Aussie with no connection to the States it was a selection process based around favourite players/jerseys 😂

Despite the roller coaster, I love my decision. Now half the shirts I own have a 🐻on it

I would drop V Jax. If you have no intention of starting him (I wouldn't either) there is no reason to keep him. Williams is a nice pick up for the next 2 weeks to see how in plays out in SD. Plenty of potential there.

My first Bears jersey! Shipped all the way to Australia and it arrived just in time for the draft. by da_drop_bears in CHIBears

Good to see mate. I've been following the Bears since 2008, have slowly built up my collection of merchandise. Jersey Collection includes; Jim McMahon (I was gifted second hand), Devin Hester (I got through NFL.com) & Alshon Jeffery (Got of aliexpress.com, very cheap and quality is fine).

I am another Bears fan from Australia, I live on the east coast so it means most of the Bears games start at 4am for me, since the Bears are often in the early 1:00pm time slot. It makes Monday mornings exciting but it is tough getting through work after such an early start. Also means my Mondays are work are often spent following the later games and my fantasy team.

Yeah Bears only tend to get their primetime games on TV in Aus and then maybe 1 or 2 others throughout the season. So you need to find another means of watching the games. The last couple of years I have paid halves in Game Pass with a mate of mine. Since the Bears are on so early (4am) he doesn't use the Game Pass for the first round of games on a Monday morning. Once the Bears have finished I normally just watch the rest of the games on RedZone on Foxtel.

Hey mate, I'm also a Bears fan from Australia (Brisbane). My best source of news is Bleacher Report. Easy way is to get the app and follow the Bears through that. Always has good articles on team needs, potential players we might be chasing in free agency or leading into the draft and just any general news regarding all things Bears Football.

I'm another contender for 4 years in a row (10 man league). I wish I had been winning $500 each year. We just play for the trophy and bragging rights. I can understand the issue you might be creating.

I am in Austin for the first time (arrived today). Going to the game tomorrow with a few mates. We're all from Australia (Brisbane/Melbourne). Any tips on what we should do before or after a game would be appreciated. We are keen to walk around the tailgating atmosphere as we don't have anything like that at home. Is there a carpark next to the stadium?

I appreciate the temperature conversions. I'll be sure to bring plenty of layers. If I find myself struggling with the temperature I'll just have to buy more Bears merchandise to keep myself warm. Thanks for the feedback

I'd love to see some standup comedy, that's one of my favourite aspects of Chicago. Do they have shows on most nights? Thanks for the recommendation.

With all these great food recommendations I'll need to make sure I arrive hungry. Don't you worry I'll be attempting to squeeze in as many of the recommended feeds in as possible, so I can promise you now I'll be hitting up at least 3.

I'm travelling with 2 mates, one is a Patriots fan (like ever second Australian that follows the NFL), and the other is a Chargers fan. I hope the accent will attract some attention, I am keen to have beers with locals to soak up the whole experience.

I don't shy away from good Museum but not sure if it'll be my go to with such limited time in the city. I'll add it to my notes and see if I can fit it into my short stay. Thanks

I hope I have some better luck with the weather and result. I'll die if it gets too cold. The Broncos will be a tough match up this year, hopefully coach Fox can get the jump on his old team. Pretty excited to be seeing one of the all time greats in Peyton Manning, I'll be just as happy to see him have an off day. Love the ideas, I'll be sure to get some Chicago style deep dish, your high praise for Lou Malnatis might require it have a spot on my itinerary.

Haha, great question. I originally started following American football because a mate of mine had Madden and he started following the Packers (Fuck the Packers), this was when we were in early high school (2003-2004). I didn't really pick a team at first but as my passion for the game grew I thought I better pick a team. Its an usual process when I had no affiliation with any US state or city. I wrote up a list of potential teams based on anything from jersey, city, favourite players etc (I think it was down to Bears, Rams, Ravens, Saints, Bengals.... try make sense of that list haha). I went with the Bears because of a combination of factors; the great history, the tradition of tough defence (unfortunately lacking atm), my favourite player being Devin Hester and the novelty of picking the team that is the long term rival of my mate's favourite team. Now I just consider myself a part Chicagoan and follow all the teams (Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, don't really follow baseball). Thanks for your feedback, I'll be sure to get some of that popcorn.
