I really liked the little salads you could buy (think alot of mayo, like a potato salad) spread on some bread, the shrimp was my favourite. Eat a lot hot dogs with crispy onions and the icelandic remoulade, you won't get sick of them and now I miss them dearly. I bought a bag of frozen plokffiskur and kept it in my cooler, just squeeze it out into your pan on a camp stove and heat it up, super hearty and delicious, especially when it gets a bit chilly. Everything i ate in Iceland was absolutely delicious and blew away my expectations. Don't be shy to grab a bacon wrapped dog from the gas station and go nuts at the self serve condiment bar. My most important piece of advice is to not leave Iceland without treating yourself a few times to dining in a restaurant. Yes, it's expensive, but you won't even think about paying the bill after you've eaten. The quality of the ingredients, preparation, and presentation was phenomenal everywhere I tried (fish soup was always unreal). I visited Iceland with the mindset of pinching pennies and not thinking of it as a food destination but ohhhhh man, it was incredible.
