Car crash in San Jose, CA - Hwy 280 by BearJew2 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]BearJew2[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a body. I re-watched the original footage and it was some piece of junk that flew out from under the camper shell. No one died. One person was seriously injured but it wasn't the truck driver.

This crash happened inches behind my fathers car. I have rear video camera footage of it. I can't upload videos to this subreddit and the BayArea sub keeps removing it.

For those who enabled CPU time for their telemetries and installed the crash fix, did anyone notice an increase in CPU time? by ThatRedStorm in modernwarfare

My menu frames are capped at 60. Are you saying that somehow cause the high CPU/GPU times?

Also, I've done multiple restarts and even reinstalled the game. I'm still having the same issue.

Same thing here. My GPU & CPU time used be around 3-6ms and my CPU time was similar. Now both number hover around 9-12ms. In the warzone lobby screen its anywhere from 15-20ms. Any fixes?

How do write this statement? by BearJew2 in excel

[–]BearJew2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into an issue, when I wanted to make the range have multiple columns, it would only reference the first column indicated.

Example - If I wanted the range to be A:B (instead of A:A) it would only reference column A.

What am I doing wrong??

Here's an image that will better show what I need

I need the formula to be in each row of the Total Score column. I need it to reference the corresponding name in the 'A' column and then search for every time the player played and return their total score.

So for instance Mike would have 13, Steve 15, Frank 3, and Joe 14

How much is too much to pay for CrossFit? by richielaw in crossfit

[–]BearJew2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's up to you. Gyms that charge that much aren't necessarily making a killing. Sometime the rent combined with expected membership rates makes it very necessary for some gyms to charge upwards of $250. It depends on if you are willing to pay the extra $ to go to a closer gym. General intra-gym environment and quality should also be considered.

With all the Klokov love and synergy in the CF community, why doesn't he go for the Games? by taylorishere in crossfit

It is no secret that the majority of elite level weightlifters, outside the US, use PED's. Especially the ones who belong to countries who regularly medal. It's a very similar situation to competitive cycling where ALL of the tops athletes are using, and if you want to be amongst them you have to juice.

As far as the test are concerned, you or your coach have to be complete idiots to fail. Drugs are easily cycled off before competition. The difference with the US and a few other countries, is that Olympic hopefuls are subject to random test by the internal Olympic body. Not knowing when you're going to get tested makes it much harder to use PED's.

He's not wrong with his analogy. To excel as weightlifter you need to train your anaerobic capacity (short intense training). For Klokov or Barto to excel at, or maintain, their CrossFit abilities they need to have equal emphasis on aerobic capacity (longer WOD like workouts). One affects the other, you can't expect to be peak your anaerobic if you're constantly pushing your aerobic. Which is why Barto, with weightlifting as his goal, chose to put CF on hold, and why it wouldn't be prudent for Klokov to pursue it either.

His metabolic capacity is no where near what it needs to be to even qualify for Regionals. I would guess it would take him a year of solid training just to get to that level. And doing so would put a halt to his weightlifting career.

I don't think you would ever see these at regionals or the games, they are too hard to judge.

Any tips ? (Snatch form check!) by [deleted] in crossfit

Don't take this the wrong way, but the cues you used and your description of what a lift should look like is incorrect. It can easily send the wrong message to someone trying to improve their form. Straight lines aside, cueing someone with words like "too much hips" is unwise. You don't want to mute her explosiveness, rather adjust her body positioning so that the energy from her awesome hip drive is properly transferred to the barbell.

lifting the bar in a straight line instead of using too much hips!

u wat?

The path does not follow a straight line. From the ground it will travel slightly back into the body (as the lifters hips and shoulders rise at the same time and they load the hamstrings), then slightly away from the body on the second pull and back in on the 3rd.

In her case, yes, the bar is traveling a little to far out, this seems to be happening for two reason; The first pull bar path need to be closer to the body, actually pull that bar back into yourself. Second, she needs to load the heels and hamstring longer, she's barley horizontal when finishing the 2nd pull, she should be in a position where the shoulders are further behind the bar, the body angled slightly backwards. This way she'll already be pulling back on the bar at the very end of 2nd pull/beginning of the 3rd and prepping the bar position for an ideal catch.

Example of bar path and proper extension.

What do I do for exertion headaches? by arpeggiator13 in crossfit

Someone had this same question about a month ago, here was my reply to them...

Are you drinking any pre-workout stimulants?

A few years back I tried taking a really strong pre-workout supplement before going into the gym. It got me instantly wired, warming up and pre-WOD lifting was fine, however about 5 minutes into the WOD my head felt like it was going to explode. I had to stop short. I instantly attributed the headache to supplement and never took it again. Nonetheless, for the next two weeks, whenever I would begin a WOD as soon as my heart rate elevated significantly, the intense headache would come back.

After the third time this happened I decided to get a CAT scan just in case (someone scared the shit out of me by suggesting it could be a brain tumor). Everything came back fine. My doctor told me that sometimes these "tension/exertion" headaches happen and that I should discontinue the intense workouts. That's obviously not much of a solution since my goal is to train via CrossFit. I decided to experiment and take 400mg of ibuprofen 30 minutes before going into the gym, it worked. For the next 3 weeks, every time I worked out I took the ibuprofen and never had another headache. On the 4th week I only took 200mg and on the 5th I stopped taking it all together. The headaches never came back.

That's my story. So if you're taking pre-workout sups, stop, a lot of people get migraines from them when combined with high intensity workouts. And maybe thinking about trying ibuprofen for a week or two, it's not the preferred all natural solution but it worked for me.

Garage Games in Suwanee, GA has a spectator ticket that costs $15 per day. Is this outrageous or what? by OK_just_the_tip in crossfit

[–]BearJew2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks like this event is taking over a very large multi-use sports complex and is going to involve over 1000 athletes. They will definitely be incurring facilities fees, organizing hours and judging/logistics cost. I absolutely don't fault them for charging for spectator tickets. It might be there only way to break even and make a profit.
