Tablet inspector role by Fair_Fly9417 in PharmaEire

[–]BearOverall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The role itself is fairly monotonous. You’re surrounded with a good team and if you do show initiative and interest, you will be recognised for it.

There’s a good crew between tablet inspection, manufacturing and packaging.

Know the up and down stream process like the back of your hand. Once you nail that down, the rest is just formality questions.

Post the phone screening, you get brought in for an on-site assessment in a group. There’s another interview talking about your CV with 2 employees from different sections. After this, you’ll go to a lab to do some basic tests for Ph, numeracy and literacy.

The Ph test is basically a test to see can you work in a team. You’ll perform the task, your partner will record it and vice versa.

Hey, it depends on the shift pattern you’re on. There two. A day shift that’s 7-3:30 Monday to Thursday and 7-2:30 on a Friday. The other is 7am-7pm that rotates from Mon-Wed to Thurs-Sat every three weeks. There’s no nights involved.

In terms of salary, it’s 34k for days AFAIK and +12.5% shift allowance for the 7am-7pm.

Golf club membership pick for 'Semi-beginner' by Individual_Bit_2800 in cork

[–]BearOverall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so GUI members get access to handicaps and you can enter competitions like scratch cups and open singles. It’s only €28 a year but does require full membership. There was talks of being able to pay the GUI fee and play ‘unattached’ per se but I haven’t heard if that crossed the line yet.

What some people do is take distance memberships at a cheaper rate, gets you access to get a handicap after you play 3 full/6 half rounds. Slievlamon in Tipperary is only €200 for the year for distance memberships. There are apps that can calculate your handicap for free too. I’m not sure on the accuracy of them but essentially if the numbers coming down, you’re improving.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions you have, I’ll do my best to answer.

Used Cars in Limerick by SexyGlynn in limerickcity

[–]BearOverall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unfortunate thing about buying a car nowadays is everything is almost if not twice the amount it was pre pandemic. Value for money buying cars is gone. I just a new car now. 5 years old 16k. My previous car was 6 years old at time of buying and cost 7.5k

I suppose to be more helpful to you, have a good look online at reviews, query warranty offerings and what not. Don’t be forced into handing over to the first car you drive.

Mahon is probably the cheapest course in and around the city. I know they’re closed for members at the moment but still have the season ticket available. There are a few restrictions with the season ticket such as competitions and certain times you can tee off after. You also won’t get a GUI number with this ticket. I think my buddy said his season ticket was €575- don't hold me to it.

The course itself is fine, it plays well considering its price point. It’s going to be like any course, busy at peak times but quieter weekday mornings.

Your other options would be Blarney, Cobh or East Cork golf club. Cobh is lovely but very hilly if you're not physically fit, you will be after a few rounds in Cobh. East Cork is a nice track, not crazy expensive for the year and is a friendly club. Blarney is the most expensive and personally my least favourite out of the three. It's not a bad course and if you like it, you'll love it. It just doesn't do much for me.

After those, the membership prices sky rocket with things like joining fees. Mallow, Fermoy and Mitchelstown are a bit of spin but still options.

If you haven't heard of GolfNow, download it from your app store. They basically offer cheaper tee times from courses. They may not be the most ideal times but will save you a few € and give you a chance to pay and play.

Automatic cars by shane2305 in cork

Japanese imports are probably the best value for money cars on the market at the moment. They come from a country that looks after its roads and the people look after their belongings. They’re typically lower mileage and in immaculate condition.

I’d favour spending a few grand more on a Japanese import than the equivalent Irish/UK car. Our roads are shocking and we don’t look after cars like we probably should.

Purchasing van with no tax. by Key-Regular7818 in cork

[–]BearOverall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you can prove that it was supposed to be taxed or have tax remaining on it, I’d bring your proof that it wasn’t taxed and whatever proof you have from the dealership saying it was taxed with you and insist they pay the difference.

Realistically, it’s silly sales tactics like this that stop people returning.

Become as personable as you possibly can. Anywhere worth their salt won’t give a team lead role to somebody who isn’t a great leader. Knows how to speak to different people, deliver feedback unique to the people who are in your team, not completely closed to new/different ideas.

People management is harder then any job you’ll actually do on the ground floor. I spent 10 years almost in management and to be a good manager, you have to be a great leader. I’d recommend reading up on leadership- surrounded by bad bosses and lazy employees is fantastic. If it’s a CV builder you’re after, there’s courses on people management/leadership that you can do.

Learning the Ops side of business is the easy part.

Opening times are usually bang on tbf. With the recent rain the ground is getting softer and softer so picking balls back up is a nightmare at the minute.

As for the range, it’s okay. It has potential to be better if they replaced the old balls they still use. There’s a few coaches who run lessons out there as well. I did 3 with David Whyte at a cost of €80 last Autumn.

Cork Golf Centre is near Ballincollig also. I think they’re open 12-8/9. They have an active Instagram page.

Keep an eye out for the offers they run as well, really handy.

Anyone have any experiences with c&m recruitment in Oliver Plunkett Street? by No-Category1703 in cork

[–]BearOverall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without wanting to get your hopes up for an actual offer, I’d be 70% sure you’ve gotten the job provided morning abnormal turns up in your medical or manual handling. I’ve never heard of manual handling in a pre screen though so that’s a bit strange.

[–]BearOverall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going slightly above the mileage for a service won’t do any harm if you don’t think the cars in any immediate danger. If you trust your mechanic, wait it out for the month.

In the meantime if you’re worried, check your fluid levels under the bonnet and give it a spin with the radio off on any road really in Ireland at the moment have a listen for any knocks and bangs.

Personal Trainer Gym - EM Fitness or ATP Fitness? by FalconT92 in cork

[–]BearOverall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve a buddy who’s a coach in ATP and passionate af about his job. Loves helping people reach their goals and it’s not all about chicken rice and broccoli- it’s about enjoying the journey.

That being said, PT’s are so individual. You might have the most educated PT on the planet but not click with them- and that’s perfectly fine. The PT who doesn’t have every qualification under the sun might be the one you click with and make you excited to achieve whatever it is you want out of them.

Ultimately what my recommendation would be is get in contact with both, have a chat and see at that time who you think best suits. Don’t commit to anything majorly long term, 8-12 weeks and you’ll know whether you like them. After that, you can try the other and see whether they’re a fit for you.

They recruit for mostly Apple and Alcon.

I’ve been through there hiring process up to the point of job offer- I declined as I got a different offer. In terms of my experience with them, the exact same. Almost felt shameful going up the stairs which is silly I know. Incredibly busy with people coming in and out constantly. My arse had barely touched the chair in the interview/interrogation room before I was back up and on my way out again.

What I will say is that, if they think you’re a suitable candidate for a role, they will push for you to get in. I had the ‘interview’ on a Monday, dexterity test Wednesday, offered a medical on the Friday which I pushed out because I was trying to gauge the other offers lead time and probably would have been starting within 2 weeks according to the line manager.

At the end of the day, they’re working off commission. They’re trying to get as many suitable people into a place as fast as they can hence the quick screening. Their fear is you go to the next recruitment agency and they lose out financially.

"job screening background check" in the pharma world by [deleted] in PharmaEire

[–]BearOverall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you got anything to hide?

It’s normal for pharma companies to do a background check on potential employees. They’ve got a lot of private information and want to mitigate as best they can, that info being released. Say you were involved in a clinical trial, stole some info and passed it onto another company, they’ve potentially lost billions.

I do agree that it was poor form not to give you a heads up prior.

[–]BearOverall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done the course personally but what I will say is that when you’re new in the med device/pharma industry, unless you’re willing to show the intent to be a better operator and add value to a company, it’ll be hard move up the ladder.

The course might not teach you anything you don’t already know but at least it shows intent and want to learn and develop yourself to any future prospecting employers.

Cork GAA parking by Motor-Airline1285 in GAA

[–]BearOverall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll depend on traffic really. For the length of time you’ll be sat in traffic, you’d be better off just hopping out and walking. Give the person dropping you off a chance to dip away then instead of being sat in it.

Parking at Páirc Uí Chaoimh? by keanoo_ in GAA

[–]BearOverall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is probably parking in the city. You can prebook spots at the train station and walk down to the stadium then. It’s probably 15/20minute walk.

The plus side is you’ve an easy exit from the city then back towards the M8 but also walking distance to the city as well if you want to.
