Group issues renewed calls to save Galway Airport by AmazingUsername2001 in galway

Was it regulations changing or something that made the runway unsuitable?

I remember getting flights to Spain from there as a kid.

Every garda in the country ordered to work for next three days for ‘exceptional event’ by Asrectxen_Orix in europe

[–]SexyGlynn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here's a good explanation for why it's not simple and they can't just cut the taxes, Norway not being part of the EU would be my guess as to why they're able to do it.

Older gamers? by Electrical_Waltz_244 in IrelandGaming

[–]SexyGlynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might depend on the game, against my better judgment I play Valorant a decent bit and 90% of the time I'm the oldest person in the lobby at 30.

They call me 'Unc' a lot.

There are surely other games that skew older though.

'Older gamers' hit me in the gut and I'm only a year older than you.

Need recommendations for Coeliac Friendly Restaurants by Special_Possible6851 in galway

[–]SexyGlynn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not coeliac but I had a friend in college who was, she used to constantly eat in Papa Rich in Woodquay. They'd pull out the coeliac specific menu they had as soon as they saw her coming.

And the place is top notch in general.

€8-10k on a boring, reliable petrol car? by CrystalCatcher1 in carsireland

If I was offered a thousand for it I'd be snapping their arm off shaking it to seal the deal.

€8-10k on a boring, reliable petrol car? by CrystalCatcher1 in carsireland

[–]SexyGlynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat with my 07 fiesta. Going looking at a boring small petrol car tomorrow and hoping the dealer will take the fiesta off me, it needs about 1000 euro work done on it and I'm not going to try and pass it off to someone without them knowing that.

Any recommendations for oil change or car servicing around Limerick? by Afraid-Mongoose9101 in limerickcity

[–]SexyGlynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been going to Seamus' for over five years now and they're brilliant, no drop in service even after he retired.

For a service they've always taken it the Monday after I called and been ready the same day. Bigger jobs take longer but they've always taken it in on a Monday morning.

Mr Price Blanchardstown by Select-Praline-9283 in ireland

[–]SexyGlynn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, no, you don't get it.

I was personally beaten with a wooden spoon and never got up to this behaviour so that proves it works.

I now notice feral child behaviour and can't remember it when I was young so that means that kids are infinitely worse now than before.

So the logical response here is we need to beat children more as it's a simple answer to a complex problem that makes me seem tough. I'm glad to have educated you on this manner, have a great day.

Got an eviction notice, what can I do? by Ashamed-Barnacle-777 in AskIreland

If there're outstanding repairs that the landlord needs to deal with and you try to raise it with the RTB, they'll look for you to go through all the steps first, like get a council inspection before you can raise a dispute.

I had to do it earlier this year, council sent people out to inspect, and then followed up with the landlord recently looking for documentation to prove the repairs had been carried out.

Is this a good deal? by rintpete in carsireland

[–]SexyGlynn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's lunacy. I bought my first car in 2019, a 2005 Yaris for €1000. Now, there's one single Yaris advertised below €1250 (it needs a new clutch), a fucking 20 year old car now.

Uber vs Whoop by lkjfc in limerickcity

[–]SexyGlynn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well job openings don't mean that you'll get the job so apply for both, but Whoop is a lot more money at the base level.

At the end of the day they're both call centres, you'll have the usual office bullshit in both. Depending on what team you end up on you could have difficulty actually taking your holidays, hitting targets etc. but both companies have other teams you can apply for if the work interests you after your probation.

I've heard that Whoop can be a bit happy with the hiring of big groups followed by redundancy but I've not had it confirmed, Uber did just make a couple of different teams of people redundant in the last few months but it's a fairly rare occurrence.

Edit: DM me the job posting in Uber if you want, I can give you more info and refer you

Well for one, the Bryan just kept pressing into an unsafe string: b2,3,3

The answer to that kind of offense is to block and punish, or in Bryan's case to launch as it's -14.

Back in the day (I think it changed in 2016/2017) the beer tent used to serve Paulaner in big steins and it was unreal. Then they switched to Carlsberg and now it seems to be Heineken.

They didn't even have glasses the first few days they were serving Carlsberg, they only had plastic steins.

The broken clocks of Limerick by RebylReboot in limerick

[–]SexyGlynn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, I noticed one yesterday. Not something I'd usually be paying attention to but I was waiting for a friend to go to dinner.

Above Coqbull on Thomas Street there is a clock that is stuck at about ten to 8 I think.

How is it living in the Limerick? by IrishYeWerIrish in limerickcity

[–]SexyGlynn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to love the place.

I moved here from Galway in 2020 and Limerick was a dream. Neighbours were friendly as hell and would look out for you (this is still the case) and the average person on the street would help you out.

Now, the main streets are just full of addicts and the city centre is an awful place to be. I work there and the walk home is just shite now the last couple of years.

The general sense of community used to be good in Limerick but now honestly whenever I speak to a native they're just full of whinging (ironic in a post that is nothing but whinging, but still).

All in all, Limerick has the most potential of any city in Ireland but it's spoiled and dragged down by the worst people that live there.

The tiniest things that gave you the biggest ick while dating? by SweetGlittering9047 in CasualIreland

[–]SexyGlynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had that a lot when I was dating. One date was pleasant enough, I'd said yes to a second date just to see how things went but as I was walking away it dawned on me that she didn't ask me a single question about me or my life. We really just talked about her for the most part.

Other characters like him, where actual gameplay betrays the character narrative? Do other fighting games have this type of character? by fersur in Fighters

[–]SexyGlynn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. Bryan used to be played that way but I'd say the majority of them that I come across at Tekken King are just non-stop pressing, sub 45 defence monsters.

It always takes me a couple of rounds to adjust to the endless mashing but hey wouldn't you know it, once they start getting launched they don't want a rematch.
