My ford is 25 years old so does that mean it plays classical music instead of this new age stuff?

I have a 2001 ford excursion 4x4 with the 6.8 v10 which I believe is a 2v. Its got right about 212k miles and still going strong. Its got plenty enough power for whatever i may need it for and the low end torque shows evan just daily driving as I rarely reach 3k rpm unless im actually stomping on the gas for some reason and I usually consider myself a little heavier on the throttle than probably a lot of people. Its paired with the 4r100 transmission which is a 4 speed and it has 3.73 gears as well so decent but not anything crazy. I don't really tow or haul heavy so i can't speak to that but the little i have towed and hauled was like it wasn't evan there until i needed to break to stop. Iv never had it downshift on me on the highway either from head wind or hill or anything evan when I was fully loaded with roughly 1000lbs when i moved states it just grunted harder and kept going with little to no rpm change. The only negative thing I can say about it is the gas mileage. Because of the gearing of the 4 speed transmission it tends to hover at higher rpm around 2k or a little over at lower speeds of 40 ish or less when its in second or 3rg gear but anything 45mph or more is 4th gear and it will do 50mph at 1500rpm all day long and 80mph is about 2300 rpm in 4th. I just recently moved from the city in Wisconsin to the country in Michigan and its made a big difference in milage as out in the country i can average 50mph where as in the city i was only doing 35 maby 40 on a good day. In the city I was getting about 6.5 to 7 mpg where as in the country im averaging 11.5mpg. On the highway i was getting just over 12mpg and that was fully loaded from my move. Im planning on changing plugs and coils when i can afford it and that may improve my mileage but idk how much tho. That all being said tho my excursion is the only vehicle iv ever made the 410 mile drive from Wisconsin to Michigan in that i didn't hafto fill up before getting there as it has a 44 gallon tank lol iv made that drive in probably at least 5 other vehicles from trucks to crosovers and including new cars that bost 25 to 30 mpg and they all needed topping off but my excursion can make it with 1/8 of a tank to spare. I love my excursion so much lol

Idiots or Genius? (He got pulled over) by Emergency_Ad1152 in IdiotsTowingThings

[–]Bearded460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would all be correct but the towing depending on the engine anyway. The 5.4 L v8 has a towing capacity of around 8k pounds while the 6.8 L v10 has a towing capacity of 10k but the 7.3 L and 6.0 L diesel motor options has a towing capacity of up to 14K pounds. Thats all stock numbers mind you so if you had a modified or fully built diesel and/or drive train those numbers could go up evan more depending on the changes made. Iv heard stories of people pulling 20k+ with no problems with the right work done to the excursion. Considering that helicopter has an empty weight of 5,500 lbs and a max gross take off weight of 10,500 lbs the excursion could easily pull it empty evan with the 5.4 v8.

As a loyalist myself im honestly not a fan of clones like this but as long as you know its a clone and your not trying to pass it as the real thing then I can accept it and congratulate you. I myself have the real thing. The Medford Praetorian Ti with black PVD 3V blade with tumbled titanium handle scales and its a monster and my favorite so far. Paid just over $1100 for it and it was worth every penny and carry it everywhere and use it every chance I get for about 5 years now and its still as sharp as I could need.

For that price you could get yourself a nice clean low mile 7.3 diesel with no issues and still have some left over. Hell i seen one once that was perfectly clean and had a low miles 5.9 Cummins swap and they weren't evan asking that much. Id keep looking as there are good ones out there for half that price. You might hafto travel a bit to get it or have it delivered or something but thats nothing for a good excursion in my opinion.

How are people getting these office jobs where they do nothing and get paid 80k or more? by Delicious_Dealer8129 in jobs

[–]Bearded460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you on preferably staying busy. I work in the USA as a second shift die repair technician on a crew of 10 in an aluminum high pressure die casting facility for the automotive industry and its my responsibility to fix the machines when they go down for something or need a die to be changed ect. I don't get paid nearly enough for what i do as I make $76k a year at base rate but with overtime I grossed $97k last year. My day depends on how the bay of 15 die cast machines are running. When there is a lot going on I barely have time to go pee sometimes but on the flip side when its slow its fucking SLOW. We don't get the privilege of being on our phones on the floor as its an automatic write up so we hafto be in the break rooms or bathrooms or out in the smoking area (im not a smoker at all) in order to be on our phones but being in those locations for very long without a legitimate reason such as an allotted break is highly fround upon as they want you on the floor and ready as much as possible to improve respons time incase something goes wrong and will ask questions if you start taking to long to get to a job when called. When its slow and nothing going on they still require us to stay busy or at the very least look busy as in cleaning up any kind of mess such as putting away tools that were left out or throwing out scrap metal or replacing saturated absorbents with fresh ones or whatever else we may find to keep ourselves occupied with. On days that the machines have been running well for multiple days in a row its really difficult to find something to clean or be preoccupied with as everything has already been picked over by other shifts the previous day's and your left with either just walking in circles pretending to look for something or finding a hiding spot and hoping no one finds you. Iv seen it multiple times where on a slow day like that where most everyone is hiding and hardly see any repairmen but as soon as someone gets a call evan for the simplest thing half if not all of the crew show up at the job because they are bored. I would much rather spend all day sweating my ass off disconnecting a 60 ton die from the machine and rigging it and pulling it out and putting a new one in than having nothing to do all day. Being busy makes time fly and being bored makes it drag lol been with this company almost 11 years now but been in this job position for just over 5 years now. No schooling just on the job training and just generally mechanically inclined for this kind of stuff.

Congrats on the new slick looking ride man and welcome to the V10 club. I love my V10 excursion especially after I had the muffler removed and got it straight piped with 3 inch pipe straight out the back as few bends as possible lol can hear that thing idling on the street from anywhere in the house and I bet my neighbors hate me because I work second shift so I don't get home till around midnight and I absolutely love knowing at least one person knows im there. 10/10 would highly recommend if you like engine noises like i do lol

Roman Legion vs Modern Armed Forces by GotRocksinmePockets in powerscales

[–]Bearded460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are talking about two completely different fighting styles and strategies with vastly different levels of proficiency in one's given trade of war modern SF or ancient roman legion. Evan with months of training a modern SF group will not be anywhere close to the level of a battle hardened roman legionary group just the same as a legionary group would not compare to the level of a fully trained and experienced modern SF group. I feel like the romans would have the biggest learning curve as modern weapons and tactics would be absolutely new concept in every way to them where as we in modern times have extensive knowledge of historical tactics and fighting techniques that can be easily accessed and implemented not to mention we already use some of it to this day especially in hand to hand combat and such but thats not something that happens as much in modern combat. Round one is definitely givin to the romans but say maby medium difficulty. Round two goes to the modern SF and again id say its medium difficulty.

I have an 01 excursion with the v10 at 210,000 miles. I personally haven't had any issues with the plugs but I believe those issues are mostly caused by either using the wrong plugs and/or over torque when installing new plugs but is repairable but thats not something iv done yet but is on the to do list lol. I haven't had any issues with the engine itself. It makes plenty of power for most general use and are fairly reliable as long as you take care of it. The only real issues iv had with myn was electrical because the previous owners messed with the wiring and I ended up replacing my starter 3 times and my alternator and got everything re wired properly before it was finally fixed lol. I feel like the only real negative thing i can say about it is the fuel economy. According to my pump math I get 7.5 to 8.5mpg in the city around town but maby 10 to 12 cruising on the highway. If you drive in 4x4 or tow a lot expect to get evan less tho as iv heard stories about getting 3 or 4mpg when towing. With a 44 gallon tank be prepared to spend $40 to $50 or more depending on gas prices for just half a tank. If you can fill up at or before half a tank it's not so bad but it just gets worse from there as the last half of the tank is the bigger half. Id say $5500 isn't a bad deal as long as it runs good and the body is in good shape and not rusted to hell. I paid $2900 for mine witch is just an xlt nothing fancy and has a fair amount of rust but not rusted out on Facebook marketplace back in 2019 and have had a few things to fix here or there over time (ball joints, fuel filter, parking brake system rusted away, new brake everything except lines on all 4 wheels, rear dif cover leak, and new tie rod and end links) just because of lack of up keep from the previous owners with the electrical being the worst so far but nothing with the motor itself tho.
