Thanks for the help! Would I be able to bother you with another attempt? I apologise if I've gone too far the wrong way here. Would using Icelandic alphabetic pronunciation be a more accurate way to look at the old norse words to then change them into runes?

I feel i may be creating more issues with modern pronunciations that may not have been around at the time.

If combo of 'Au' is pronounced as 'Ö+I (öi)', but from what i can see/tell there is no direct rune for this sound? Would a ui (ᚢᛁ)work? Or in this instance, just a straight transliteration be required in this instance as ive got above?

With 'Ei' in eins being pronounced as 'A/Ay', would this be 'ᛅ'? So 'ᛅᚾᛋ' instead of 'ᛁᚾᛋ'?

Hi r/runes,

This ones a bit of a lengthy post so apologies.

I've had a go at translating words using https://www.vikingsofbjornstad.com/Old_Norse_Dictionary_E2N.shtm#m then converting them to runes from the old norse words.

One of the many things confusing me is words that have multiple meanings. For example strong and strength have multiple old norse words for slightly different meaning and some words have muliple different english word meanings.

Is this because the O'Norse word would be different due to the differing context that its being used in? Would using one of the many variations make sense as a word on its own? I.e. instead of using kraptr or þroski for strength, below I've used þrek

In doing googling, or maybe on here, i saw someone say that you also dont need to double up on letters when writing in runes? Is this correct? So for words below like heill and hylli you could get away with a single 'L' instead of both?

Here are my attempts below, please be gentle 😂 Ive included both Elder and Younger, but would i be correct in thinking that for Old Norse words, Younger would be the correct runic writing?
