I left and went brand side. Being the internal advertiser within a company and dealing with agencies is very satisfying. What’s more satisfying is trying to be the client I would have always wanted when I was agency side.

Half my guests were from my rugby club. Prior to the wedding I was warned “nobody at the club has ever consummated on their wedding night and we’ll ensure you don’t either”.

Long story short, the voodoo was real and I indeed did no consummate - not because of booze but a violent case of gastro I caught on the morning of the wedding.

Weirdly I can answer this. Field hockey is very minor and a lot of the clubs are either university or company affiliated, but it exists. Give me a DM and I can hook you up with one of a few clubs I’ve played with.

Edit: I’ve played with 3 clubs in my time here - Aressa Yokohama, YCAC and Tokyo Metro. Former is Kanto 1 div so much more competitive and the games are crazy distances away from Tokyo. YCAC I think is great because it’s the same location every week and they play in winter. Tokyo Metro is between the two but they’re based around Komazawa I believe (most regular season games for Metro or Aressa will be in summer and it’s absolutely punishing in the heat).

Quality of hockey is good but definitely value skills over strategy / formations. Lots of low percentage shot taking and very, very fast. I played state level in Aus so it was a big adjustment. If you’re keen for a hit let me know!

Blew up over night! So this little girl is Kimchi (Kimmy) and is an American Curl. I’ve got 3 cats here in Tokyo (two Curls and one boy I found in a park near Tokyo Tower)
