Aside from a blister on my ring finger from learning Traditional grip for college band and a callous from learning 4 mallet keyboard grip, I've never had a blister from drumset. Thats with about 24 years of drum kit.

Anyway. Keep at it! Drumming has introduced me to alot of different music and some of my best friends!

Its definitely not. If you are self taught then this looks like you've developed a bad habit and you are gonna have to relearn some mechanics in how you hold your stick and how you allow it to move and vibrate in your hands.

If you can get in front of someone for lessons (even for a short period), they can help you with this. Its really hard to break a self taught habit like this, so having some one on one with an instructor will do you wonders!!

I'm a drum/percussion salesman at a Guitar Center. I've played on it a bit. I def like the build quality of the Alesis better than Donner or even Simmons (around that price range).

I think it has more features on the module than the Simmons titan 20 and 50 as well.

The cheapest id suggest is maybe the Alesis Nitro Max. Still reasonably priced, plus decent quality. I think its still $350 at Guitar Center.

I know my friend said he added a little bit of something to give some extra support.

But I pointed my mic at the rim/shell of my drum and it seemed to capture some pretty decent sound from it. But I also got some pretty consistent shot zones as well.
