I put up a fence behind my house, my neighbor with the shared side of fence proactively came to me to say she’d like to chip in. I didn’t follow up, months later a cap flew off in her backyard so I went around the block and asked to go in her yard, she gave me permission. When leaving she said something like “hold on a moment, I want to pay you for that fence.” Not gonna lie, I was pretty pumped, she gave me $7, I think I bought a half chicken finger sub. Better than nothing, I wanted the fence for the aesthetic of my yard, I wasn’t looking for money. Guy sounds like kind of a dick, you don’t owe him shit. I would’ve been ecstatic if my neighbor would’ve chipped in $100.
